Opening weekend of Cendrillon went really well. I was medicated to the gills and was able to sing my part just fine, and things seemed to go by with little to no problems. Apparently at one point Cinderella's wig started to slip, and they sent out two of the fairies to run around her and re-pin the wig on. No one in the audience saw anything out of the ordinary, but one of the other cast members in the audience caught on, saying later, "Her wig was slipping, right? Great cover." I got to see a contingent of lovely ladies from Butler who seemed very excited to see me, and I'm not gonna lie, it made me feel pretty cool to have a group of pretty girls fan-girling over me in the meet-n-greet line. My parents also made it up and seemed to enjoy things as well.
I capped off the evening by going with Bill, Thomas, Kelly and Ben to
Lennies for a beer and some foodstuffs, whereupon we were treated to a crazy story from Thomas about dealing with the Comcast cable guys at the house where he's house-sitting for a couple that's vacationing in Thailand. To make a long story short, Thomas had told the Comcast guys his parents were away shopping in Indy, and he didn't know the alarm code (which appparently needed to be routed through the cable line so it could call out to 911 in emergencies). Thomas quietly called the house's owner in Thailand and told him quickly "The cable guys are here and they want the alarm code. Also, I said you were my dad. Here they are!" and handed off the phone. Several other complications arose, but it seems things worked out in the end. Wow.
Sunday we had our second DnD session, this time with all our players present (we were short a man last time). We made it through another whole room and a secret sub-room containing booby-traps and treasures (sounds like the name of a song) before we had to end things. Thomas and I were to sing in a studio recital for our teacher's voice studio, which was to start at 7:00 pm. Again, in the morning and during the game I was taking ibuprofen, cough syrup, Emergen-C, and anything else to try to get my throat calm/cool enough to sing, and I pulled off my song at the recital. I guess you could only tell I was sick on the high 'b,' and my teacher actually seemed pretty proud and impressed that I stuck through it and made it through the song. My teacher invited all his students out to dinner at O'Charley's, and we had a grand old time talking about music and what TV shows we were watching, to name a few subjects. It was a fun evening, and a long one (that's what she said), and made it all seem worth it.
Tonight we're in for another, longer round of DnD hopefully to finish this first dungeon and start on our second, maybe even gaining a level along the way. It's gonna be awesome, and I can't wait to see what happens.
