Summary: Vader is dead; Obi-Wan is captured and taken back to his Master.
Author's Note: Weird RotS-ish AU. I have no idea, I'm just procrastinating on finals-related things. The Quin handpr0n is coming, I promise, it's just that my Quin muse is being difficult. Yes, Wendy, you can imagine that they have mad hatesex. :P

"What an honor to have you here, Master Kenobi." The Chancellor - no, the Emperor - nudged Obi-Wan's head up, placing the toe of his of his shoe under his chin. "Quite honestly, I'm surprised you survived." Obi-Wan darted his eyes away from the Sith's face; he didn't want to be reminded of Anakin's turn to the Dark Side. "And you killed my new apprentice, too. Do you know how many years I spent working on him, molding him bit by bit, getting rid of your teachings?"

Anger flared up within Obi-Wan. How could they all have been so foolish? This Sith had been right in front of them, corrupting Anakin, and they had been blind to all of it. And now, for all he knew, he was the last of the Jedi.

"Ah, yes, you're angry. Good." Palpatine smiled. "You have the same potential Vader did, you know."

"His name is Anakin," Obi-Wan hissed between clenched teeth, instantly regretting speaking.

"He died as a Sith, not as the Jedi you once knew." Force lightning hit Obi-Wan suddenly, the searing pain making him topple over from the kneeling position he had been in. He tried to focus, to release the pain, but the collar around his neck kept him from feeling the Force. He cried out; the pain was concentrated on the stump where his right arm had been - the arm Anakin had taken as a last act of defiance.

"Please," he groaned, "just kill me already." He hoped Yoda knew where he was, hoped that the wizened green Jedi Master had taken the babies to a safe place.

Palpatine - Sidious now - laughed, a bone-chilling sound, and stopped the Force lightning. He reached down and touched the stump, nearly caressing it. "An arm for an arm," he said. "An apprentice for an apprentice."
