Obi-Wan watched as Padme fell from the gunship, hitting the golden sands of Geonosis. He tried to ignore the intense feelings coming from his Padawan as it happened, and he turned to the pilot as soon as he the dust settled.
"Keep following that speeder!" He yelled, face drawn in a grim line.
"No! Turn the ship around!" Anakin protested. He was still looking after Padme.
Obi-Wan's frown almost turned into a sneer, but he checked the emotion of hatred before it welled up. Anakin would sense it as surely as he could sense the Padawan's agitation at Padme's fate. "No! We need to keep moving! We can end this war right now, Anakin."
"I can't leave her!"
Yes you can. I am. "I need you Anakin! I can't take Dooku alone!"
"Put the ship down!"
"No! Follow that speeder! Anakin, mind your personal feelings!"
Because if Obi-Wan could keep his in check, so could Anakin. Especially in the face of his betrayal. In the face of her betrayal. He turned away from Anakin to stare intently on Dooku's speeder. He was grappling with dangerous feelings, considering who his companion was, Mr. I-Can-Sense-You-A-Million-Miles-Away Skywalker. But he couldn't help it. He felt some kind of justice at watching Padme fall out of the gunship, and he had to admit that he hadn't really made much of an effort to try and save her.
Her voice bubbled up from within: "I will love you forever, Obi-Wan."
"And I you, my love."
The words were corrosive to him now, as an image that would forever be etched in his memory crowded out every single moment he had spent with his Padme. He had been chained to the post, gazing around the arena as he sought a way out. His eyes had fallen upon the dark void of the entrance and he could make out new prisoners awaiting their fate. He had called upon the Force to see who it was, and as the shadows fell away he watched in horror as his love leaned up to kiss his Padawan. The kiss had been a chaste one, yes, but it had been full of emotions and feelings that had been reserved for the Knight alone and now she was forsaking him for someone else.
So be it. If she could throw him away so easily, then he could do the same to her.
So no, from the time she had entered that arena, she was no longer Obi-Wan's concern, as he divorced her in his heart and banished her from his soul.
