Anyone contemplating the design of a new system, say for a game (I'm looking at you roastbeefguy), or those contemplating seppuku after the international finance system has rendered them penniless should read "Why Systems Fail and Problems Sprout Anew" by Anthony Judge. See especially Axiom 16.
You may have a hard time finding the reviewed book, Systemantics: How Systems Work and Especially How They Fail online, but (and again, I'm looking at you roastbeefguy) I would imagine that a sizable university library would have at least one copy.
