Marty sat down in front of her and forced a grin. It'd been a long time since he last saw her face to face and he doubted that he'd see her again.
He took a deep breath and continued to smile.
"Hi, Mom," he said wondering exactly when this conversation would take a bad turn.
"Marty," she said warmly and leaned over to give him a big hug. "It's been so long. How are you?"
"Good!" he said emphatically. "Good. Um. College is good. Angela is good. We're all good."
"Good!" she said pulling back and grasping his hands. "They tell me you're having a baby."
Marty gave her a sheepish grin. "Yeah. We are. Well she is. I'm just kind of the guy next to her claiming responsibility while she does the work."
"You should marry her," Mary whispered to her son. "It's the right thing to do."
"I did," he whispered back. "I don't think she's ready for that step. Or at least that's what she told me. Or implied. It's just not the right time."
"She'll say yes," she said firmly. "I know she will."
Marty let out a soft chuckle and grinned. "You think so, huh?"
"Yes," she said with a firm nod. "And then you can have your brother be your best man."
Marty let out a small sigh and tried not to let his grin fade away. "My brother?"
"Yes! Ken!" Mary said patting Marty on his cheek. "You two look so alike."
"Wait... you mean McCullers?" Marty asked looking out the doorway to the federal agent who was chuckling behind his hand.
"You two are such good boys," she said waving at her second "son".
"Riiiiight," Marty said shooting a look at the agent before turning back to his mother. "Look, mom. I'm going to have these nice men look after you from now on. I'm... I'm probably not going to see you again. Ever. It's going to be safer this way. For everyone. I don't know. Maybe if I became someone else this wouldn't be happening and you'd be... yeah. I don't know. I just wanted to see you one more time and say goodbye."
"Oh. Oh. Marty."
She leaned forward and grasped him in a firm hug. "You're always with me."
Marty let himself lean in and hug her back. "Thanks, Mom."
"In fact I think you're standing behind me and over there in the corner at this very moment."
Marty let out another small sigh and gave his Mom a quick kiss on the cheek. "Good," he said. "Good. Bye mom."
He gave her one more kiss on the top of her head and walked out of the room quickly, not bothering to look back.
Mary sighed as she watched her son go. "Such a lovely boy. What's his name again?"
[ooc: Sorry. One last little thing for Marty to do and my spamming is done. NFI.]
