"What's good for the bankers is good for America"
And no this is not some quote from a Bank CEO. It's from the 1939 John Ford film Stage Coach. Which is a western if you've never heard of it. I saw it at the academy tonight as a part of their screening series of the Best Picture Nominees of 1939. After the audience stop laughing at that quote they then began to boo and hiss at the character that said the line, the banker. And for those that haven't seen the film the banker is.....wait for it............a greedy crook who gets caught in the end. :)
Thinking about the time period the film was made in, I wonder if that line was meant as a joke back then. Would make sense. Who would have thought 70 years later people would get the humor again.
And well today is called western day because today High Plains Invaders becomes available on demand. Although it's listed under Plain Invaders for some reason. Got it playing for a second time right now. Yeah for 24 hour rental. Stubbly cowboy James.......squeeeeee.
I give the film a high rating. Definitely one of the best sci-fi channel films I've seen in awhile. It's not going to win any awards, and it has some issues. But overall a entertaining film. And the bugs might make you giggle when you first see them, but the CG is done well enough they're not a cheap eyesore in the film. Plus stubbly James!!!!! That's reason enough to watch it. :nods:
