You know you live in a small town when the entire school is let out at twelve for the Visitation of a bus driver's brother. Not that I'm complaining; he was our bus driver and a nice guy, and free time, whatever the reason, is a good thing.
A teacher lent me a book yesterday, titled "The Rebel and the Preachers Son." Note the lack of apostrophe between "Preacher" and "s". It is a fair indication of the literary content of the book, which is riddled with some of the most blatant religious cliches I have ever witnessed. The spelling and grammar aren't that great either, and the characterization. . . The worst is the main female character. If this were fanfiction, she'd be declared a Sue and killed on spot. Why do I get the feeling someone's trying to save my soul again? I'll stick to my birthday book, thanks all the same. It's not bad, though it doesn't consitute serious reading. Like a movie which is okay, but not extrodinary.
We may go into town after school today and visit my elder sister, who is sick and couldn't come for my birthday. She has kittens in her house! One of them is promised to me, thought Mother doesn't know it yet.
