My two-bit rhymes.

Lay you down and dream away
the cares and sorrows of the day,
Find the darkness, soft and deep,
and let yourself be lulled to sleep.

The day was long and dull and weary,
And all the world about seemed dreary,
So I waited for the failing of the light,
And the soothing wildness of the night.

Before the sun had wholly gone,
I locked my door and laid me down,
Quick to leave all doubt and pain,
to surrender to the song of rain.

The winter night was sharp and cold,
and over the wan moon dark clouds rolled,
Fierce in its glory, the night rejoiced,
and in the wind its triumph voiced.

But long before the light of dawn
It’s fury spent, the storm was gone.
And as peace was spread across the skies,
The failing rain sang lullabies.
