Lovely sunny Thursday. I'm at home trying to get my butt in gear! I was supposed to be out the door an hour ago heading down to Grants Pass. I'm off for the next several days for a family road trip to Yosemite. My oldest brother, Todd and his wife Kerry live right outside of Yosemite. In one large van, hopefully without killing each other, me, Mom, Dad, my brother, Mike, sis in law, Kate and niece Gracie are embarking on a ten hour road trip.
I'm failing miserably at getting my house cleaned up so Anne can baby sit the ginger boys and watch TV to her hearts content. I just can't get motivated.
Kerry says the mountains are all in bloom right now. Spring flowers everywhere. I'm hoping we get to do some rafting also. If the base camp is set up on the Kings we should be able to. Todd & Kerry run the base camp from early spring into early summer. The season there stops when Cali starts demanding too much water. The Kings is the longest undamed river in the US.
Tuesday night the first round of CERT classes started. Every class is very different. This one has a lot of military personnel. One guy I know I will screw up and call Colonel Mustard. He's Colonel something but he just looks like a Colonel Mustard. One of the students is from a department at SHMC that my department butts heads with all the time. I mean all the time. We introduced ourselves, realized who each other was, and you could see the shock on our faces. I started cracking up. Probably not the best thing I could have done but I couldn't help it. This should be very interesting. Tonight is the class on fire suppression and I'm very bummed to be missing it. Fire is my favorite. The students (and the trainers) get to practice putting out fires with extinguishers and the the burn pan and using the big hoses. The fireman that runs the burn, Don G, is hilarious. He has so many great "No Shit, I was there stories". Keeping him on track and on time is always a challenge.
See how this is going. I should be cleaning and instead I'm on the computer. At least reading other posts caused me to turn off the TV and put on some Loreena McKennitt.
