so, last night at the gym we sat down and talked goals. i guess cam is starting to feel like we have been feeling and that we are just kind of floating along with no real aim to what we are doing. so i guess he has just been experimenting with different workouts instead of focusing the workouts on our goals. at first i was kind of like "uh....i ( Read more... )

Hmm, I don't think with the Olympic style training sessions that having two workouts back to back will work. I mentioned it to Cam yesterday and he really didn't like that idea. I'm not sure why you were boss would be hesitant to have you leave early if you are coming IN early, since you're not asking for time off. I still think that's probably the best idea. That way you will have a much more balanced workout week.

Your boss can't get mad at you for what you do on your days off, and they need to respect that.

I agree with you about the working to exhaustion, and sometimes I only feel good about the workout during (when I literally can't pick up the weight anymore) or a few days later when I'm sore and I'm reminding that it WAS a hard workout. I do miss the feeling though from doing the Olympic style one, even though when I was doing it, it was much less intense then yours.

I hate trying to think of fitness goals, because really, I'm in a happy place. The only thing I want do really is make my ass firmer and be more toned. I don't really feel the need to lose weight, even though it would be lovely to lose like 10 pounds. :P

I wish my schedule worked better with yours cause I would love to go bike riding with you sometime, not just a leisurely spin around Stanley Park, but maybe a bit more intense session.

well cam may have been not liking the idea of you having two olympic style workouts back to back, but it might be okay with others. different bodies, different abilities. and not every workout is going to be olympic lifting. there is going to be a variety, especially if i'm going to be doing back to back workouts with him. he wouldn't have suggested doing thursday or sunday workouts if he knew he wasn't capable of varying things up. but the main idea of the workouts is going to be olympic lifts.

my boss doesn't care about what i do with my days off. she only cares about whether i'm making the time to complete the course....which i'm clearly not doing. it's in both of our best interests to have me finish the course so of course she can be a bit hesitant about doing me a special favour which can potentially take away from time i specifically told her was going to be study time. my workout week is a variety anyway. just because my cam workouts could be back to back doesn't change up anything really. i still am doing something active every day basically except saturdays. we used to do cam workouts on monday, wednesday and sunday and it was never a problem having the back to back days. we chose to move sundays to fridays because summer came and it kind of imposed on any sunshine time.

me and cam will work something out in the long run. it's no biggie really.

oh and if you want to do more intense biking sessions you'd need to get a road bike. i don't mean to sound snobby or avoiding the possibility of riding together, but it's hard to go out for a serious ride when on different styles of bikes. because mine is significantly lighter than yours it's naturally faster so it would be harder for me to get a good intense ride in because of the varying speeds. but that's not to say i'm not keen to do lighter rides with you! :)
