It seems that if you visit Australia, there is one place you have to visit; Sydney. Sure, it's another city, has too many people, is busy and noisy. Tourists abound, all jostling for space with the regular Sydney-siders going about their daily life. But for many tourists, this IS Australia. (We know better, and there is SO much more out there that is the REAL Australia). All that aside, it was with much excitement that we flew to Sydney with Carl and James in April. After leaving a sunny Brisbane we were somewhat put out to land in rain, but it didin't last long and the day improved.
After dropping off our bags at the hotel we headed off to Circular Quay where they had their first view of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Some of you will recall previous posting when I go on about the Opera House. I LOVE this building and is one of my favourite structures from places I have visited around the world.

It is always fun to take the ferry on the harbour as you get great views and it's a fraction of the cost of doing it by tour. One of our trips was to the beautiful Taronga Zoo. The setting is magnificent and the day we went the weather was perfect.
Where in the world can you have giraffes and iconic buildings together?
And who can resist meerkats?
But it's the fantastic views that I like the best, and it's not hard to see why Sydney Harbour ranks as one of the most beautiful in the world.
After a busy and full day it was good to sit on the balcony and enjoy a few drinks looking towards the lead onto the Harbour Bridge.
