Christmas Passed?

Jan 04, 2010 20:42

Things feel as though they are in a lull in this strange period following the excitement and anticipation of Christmas and the expectations of the New Year. Resolutions have been made, possibly forgotten and already broken. For many, today saw the return to work after its annual seasonal hiatus. Children and students are still on summer break from school. For myself, work has returned to our 'normal' busy state, with closed beds ro-opened on the ward and spaced for admissions at a premium. The weather has been melancholy with cloudy skies, storms and (almost) drought-breaking rains. The sun has taken a break and the humidity has been doing it's best to choke every morsel of air from the skies. Some days have felt like wearing an extra layer of clothes. The temperatures sit around the low 30'sc.

Christmas may have come and gone by now, and the baubles and lights packed away for another season, but Brisbane City continues to look very festive and resplendent. This view is from Kangaroo Point Cliffs over the Brisbane River towards the CBD.
