He gripped the metal bar tightly and tried to shake it off where it had remained stubbornly in place. He exhaled deeply as he returned his gaze towards the large poster that covered the wall, tracing every detail.
Smiling wistfully at the figure that filled the poster, telling himself that he knew all along that he was too bright of a star to remain like one of the masses.
Sungmin hummed the familiar music, his mind shuffling through the countless songs he had memorized; every lyric sung effortlessly.
"Must you always sing that song?"
Sungmin grinned, his focus remained on the poster. "It's my favorite."
"But it's so depressing." The voice reasoned. "Do you even know what it is about?"
Sungmin shrugged, his hands lingering over the cold, metal bar. "I have an inkling of an idea."
The voice laughed quietly behind him. "Do you understand that yearning? The pain of a distant relationship?"
"One barred by fans and the likes?" Sungmin countered. "Sadly, I do." He lowered his head. "This is what happens when I fall for a star..."
He felt a weight leaning against his back. He didn't have to turn his head to know who it was. He grinned as the man's arms wound themselves around his torso.
"I'm sorry."
Sungmin shrugged lightly, not minding as the figure leaned further by his neck.
"Do you still not forgive me?"
Sungmin sighed solemnly, recalling his outburst the other day. "It's my own fault."
He had been the one who encouraged him, pushed him to audition, did everything he could to support him in every way. Even if he had to stand behind the bars that separated the two of them, leaving messages on his phone to express his excitement, staying silent whenever anyone asked if he was with someone.
"I'm glad you made it." Sungmin beamed. He winced as the man tightened his hold. He whined. "You're heavy."
"It's been too long since we've done this. I won't let you go so easily."
Sungmin laughed, turning his head to meet the man whose face was covered by his hat and large sunglasses.
Show returned the smile, pulling Sungmin's hands away from the bars and clasping them together with his.
"Don't you have any schedules today?" Sungmin asked.
Show grinned mischievously. "I escaped. Now let's hurry before my manager finds me. You'll be the first one she calls-"
Sungmin's phone rang.
"Our cue to escape." Show reasoned as he tugged his hand, forcing him to quickly move out of the store. With his hand covering half his face, he turned and said in a hushed tone. "And don't you dare answer."
Sungmin laughed as he hurried alongside him, running past the metal bars of security, past the clueless mass who didn't give the two a second glance.
He tightened his hold on his hand, not daring to let go, even as the phone rang endlessly.
He wouldn't answer that phone. Not yet.
