Eunhyuk flipped his bangs away from his eyes, crossing his arms as he leaned against the railing and looked at the freezing water below. Part of him wondered how it would be to jump into that water, no death wish, just out of mere curiosity. He closed his eyes for the time being as the wind picked up. When he opened his eyes, he looked at the images in front of him, the ones no one else could possibly see.
In front of him were beasts coming out of the water, roaring as they swayed their scaled bodies. Soon the water swirled about as other beings began to go towards him, he didn't flinch as they circled about. He turned around and walked along the pier. Watching as other figures began to run past him, racing as they jumped onto the long metal rail between him and the water. Another gust of wind hurled towards him as a tail whipped it, his eyes shifted slightly as he watched it all.
They weren't real, but he couldn't stop from letting his imagination overload him once again. Everyday in nearly any place, he would see such things around constantly, unable to suppress them as they were brought to life in front of him.
He wasn't sure when his imagination started to take over, but he was now accustomed to his many creations. Often finding himself forgetting the reality before him as they distracted him.
They weren't an escape, just results of his extremely overactive imagination at its best.
As he walked inside the coffee shop, he waited in line and let his eyes roam around. He saw tiny creatures jumping from table to table, smiling as they took the food from its owners. He smirked at the sight until the cashier called him out of his trance. He let his smile fall as he asked for his order. He walked by the side and leaned against the wall, staring at the same spot on the cafe before him as he waited for his order when he noted another creation forming, slowly, until it took its shape.
A single red string appeared in the middle of the cafe, dangling from the ceiling. He thought nothing of it, simply staring at it as nothing seemed to touch it at all. All the beings around disappeared, his attention focusing on that single red strand.
"Your order, sir." He looked back and retrieved his order, he didn't look up at the worker and instead murmured a thank you. He walked out of the cafe and back onto the streets, sipping his warm coffee.
The cold night had settled in, he blew a breath and watched as it showed itself. The breath soon multiplied and became a light fog around him, he watched as two figures completely dressed in black began to fight against one another. Powers coming forth from their hands as they hurled accusations at one another.
Eunhyuk looked back at the rail beside him and watched as the fog lifted, he tilted his head as the red string reappeared alongside the rail. He looked at its length as it seemed to go on forever. He lifted a finger and traced the top of the frozen rail, it felt as if he was touching the fabric but he knew he was merely recalling it from memory. He looked back and returned to the fight scene before him, sipping another drink from his coffee.
"When will you realize that you can't fight it." He mouthed, his voice altering as the figure said it to his opponent. "When will you realize that it's futile and just accept that we can't change everything." He watched the opponent curse under her breath, furious at his statements. He let the match continue in his mind as he walked on the street until he neared the batch of trees beside him.
He leaned against the rail this time as he stared at the trees, suddenly a pair of warm arms held him from behind. Holding him tightly as the cold rushed in.
He fought the disappointment that settled within him, wondering more and more what it would be like to have such a person. Sometimes he wished it were real, his most common imagination would be this figure whose face he could never see. Just someone who was always beside him, in times when he felt having someone beside him would be nice to have.
He finished his coffee then looked at the other unoccupied hand of his. He watched as the red string was now a knot on his finger, he looked down as it trailed along the ground. He hummed to himself as he began to skip alongside the string and flailed his tied hand, tugging back the string. He smiled as the string pulled him along, flickering slightly as the light from the poles on either side of him reflected on it.
He sang softly as he smiled cheerfully, halting his steps as the string rose up and surrounded him, he began to spin within it when paused and watched the string return to the ground. His eyes followed it when he dropped his smile. A person was in the way of the string.
The figure in front of him was smiling at his actions. Eunhyuk froze completely, this wasn't his imagination at work.
The figure's smile widened. "You sing nicely." He commented.
Eunhyuk's mind started to panic. Someone had actually saw what he had done, heat rose to his cheeks as he began to wonder what this stranger might have actually saw. He had only acted on his impulses when no one was around, and somehow he missed this person.
The figure seemed to notice his embarrassment and gave an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, I was just walking and I happen to see you. I didn't mean to make things uncomfortable for you."
"I-it's fine." Eunhyuk replied back, trying to ignore his heartbeat. The embarrassment alone was doing it, and though the stranger was kind and didn't taunt his odd actions, he wanted nothing more than to just disappear. He glanced at the water, wondering if it was the right time to satisfy his curiosity.
Eunhyuk then realized he was hearing the man talk, he looked up and mentally slapped himself. He didn't hear a single word the man said. Eunhyuk repeatedly opened and closed his mouth, wondering what to do.
"Junsu," The man repeated. "That's my name...Yours?" He asked hesitantly.
"...Hyukjae." Eunhyuk replied, he wasn't sure why he gave his real name. He had usually gone by the persona he made long ago, another creation his imagination gave him. His eyes focused on the ground, not daring to look up at the man.
Junsu looked down. "Is something wrong?" He tried to see what Eunhyuk was looking at.
Eunhyuk parted his lips but stopped himself, watching as the string laid comfortably underneath the man's shoes. It didn't struggle at all and seemed to accept the unknowing intruder. "Nothing." He tried to offer his own smile but failed miserably.
"I'll go," Junsu bowed apologetically. "Sorry again for bothering you." He turned to walk away when Eunhyuk called out.
"It's fine!" He cringed at his loud his voice was, he returned to his quieter tone. "I mean, its a public place, I don't have the right to tell you where to go...or stay." He wished he sounded as refined as the imaginary dialogues he always thought of.
Junsu chuckled and nodded. Eunhyuk forced his legs to move, stumbling a little, he felt as if one of his creations had just pushed him. Encouraging him to go on, somehow just as intrigued by the stranger as he was. They walked alongside one another, it mostly consisted of Junsu's attempts at conversation and Eunhyuk's own gestures, barely able to give vocal answers.
Yet as they talked, Eunhyuk noted how the red string appeared before his eyes, floating as it began to swerve behind him. He followed it trails, hearing every word that came from the man's mouth. As he continued to eye the string, he accidentally locked eyes with the man and felt just slightly nervous.
"It if isn't coming off too strong...would you like to meet again?" Junsu asked, shifting his body slightly as he looked away.
Eunhyuk dumbly nodded, then realizing that since Junsu wasn't looking in his direction, his gesture meant nothing. He then voiced out. "I wouldn't mind."
Junsu looked back and smiled, an innocent one at that. His mind barely registered the red string's knot that had formed on his wrist, even as its edge tied itself onto the man's own hand.
As he watched the man before him talk to him more, he found himself anticipating their next meeting. The images around him disappeared for the time being, his attention solely on him.
There are some things even the mind couldn't imagine...Maybe reality wasn't such a bad thing after all.

A/N: Inspired foremost by Ciel who mentioned how romantic the idea of a red string fate bringing two people together. Which became a good thing, I needed a story to write for Hyuksu because of Lien's and I's wants of more hyuksus in the world lol. I also used my own mind as part of the story. Maybe I am odd, but I do see such things everywhere no matter where I go, they aren't an escape but just things I always see. It's fun I admit, I tried to explain to Ciel but even she said it was weird lol. I guess this gives a brief glimpse into the world I see ^^.
