Stargate Atlantis: Episode 313 - Irresponsible

Despite what I’ve heard other people saying about this episode, I liked it. Sure there were some things that irked me, but there always are. In the end I guess it comes down to being able to see myself wanting to re-watch the episode in the future.

I’m starting off with the things that I didn’t like, just to get them out of the way.

1.) It was very predictable. The title pretty much gave away the fact that we’d be seeing Lucius again. And even if that hadn’t tipped me off, them talking about this ‘hero’ definitely would have.

And there were other things that I guessed quite far in advance to when they actually happened. As soon as those men conveniently appeared after Lucius said the comment about a hero only being as good as his last rescue, I knew that he’d hired them. I also knew that Sheppard would end up with the device. Now, as much as I don’t like predictable episodes, it didn’t bother me too much. I’m just very used to being able to predict things on this show and it didn't surprise me when I was able to again. (If that even makes any sense.)

2.) Wouldn’t Weir have sent another team, or at least tried to contact them? They would have been pretty overdue if they were just supposed to be doing a meet and greet kind of thing. At the end John even said that they were overdue. *shrugs* Oh well I suppose.

And I think those are the only two things that I didn’t like about the episode. It’s good, because these don’t make me nearly as mad as when there’s glaring scientific errors. *bangs head against wall*

Now, for the stuff that I did like:

1.)The absolutely perfect balance between all the characters! OMG! I’ve been waiting forever for them to figure this out. Ronon and Teyla are not side characters. In this episode everyone had memorable parts and it makes me ecstatic!

2.) No more Kolya after this. I was never really a big fan of the Genii plot, but it was okay. I was just afraid that they would reuse the Kolya thing until it was as old as the Goa’uld.

3.) Teyla’s little speech to John. SQUEE!! (Sorry, excuse the shipper in me.) I adored this. It shows how close they are, and how well they know each other. Also, it really did a lot for Teyla’s character, (in my opinion). She’s a very strong woman and I’m so glad they’re portraying that.

I still can’t get over it actually. She stopped John from going all crazy on Kolya. She was like his buffer, and in all honesty I’m not sure anyone else would have been able to do it. *bounces happily*

4.) Ronon! How much do I love him? Seriously. He was great in the episode. All the little lines, and the actions, it just really gives us a better idea (/reinforces the one we already have) of who he is as a character. I love that, I really do.

There were so many things that I know I’ll forget some, but to name a few:
- How he reacted to finding out it was Lucius
- How he was rolling his eyes at Lucius’ story
- How he punched Lucius, completely ignoring everyone else’s warnings
- When he was ready to charge back into the building and beat the crap out of Lucius, and the only reason he didn’t was because John stopped him
- “She’s right; we’ll have to kill them all. I’m all right with that by the way.”
- Lucius: “You’re trying to figure out a way to hurt me, aren’t you.”
Ronon: “Yep.”
- How he was eating his meat, all crazy and beast like
- How he was pulling at the bars and getting all antsy while they were locked up

5.) I guess this is still Ronon oriented, but I loved the Ronon/Teyla bits. Like I said in another review, it wasn’t something that I ever really saw before, but I like it. I think it’s just so cute. At the start, he was totally flirting with her. *g*

Teyla: “As I said, my fellow Athosian, who spoke to me of this hero, saw him in action against several armed men.”
Ronon: “I do that all the time.”
--I love that he was showing off. :D And it wasn’t really the line, so much as how he said it. Yay!

(Also, while I’m still on the topic of Ronon, did anyone else notice how he kept playing with his shirt at the start? It was when he was putting on his holster.)

6.) The team dynamic. I guess this kind of comes back to how well they balanced it, but the team interaction was fantastic. And when they all volunteered to die before Rodney! That was so sweet. Even Ronon was going to.

7.) The ending-it was frakking hilarious. I saw it coming, but it was still funny.

I really just enjoyed this episode from start to finish. I’ve heard that other people didn’t think it was that good, but I loved it. I’m giving it a 96/100.
