Plot Bunny Exorcism

Jan 18, 2010 21:10

I was re-reading the Scarlet Pimpernel as I tend do most times at Christmas as it is totally my favorite book. And I was thinking--you know who would be BFF? Percy Blakeney and Adam Lambert. They both love dress-up and Percy canonically loves actors. Adam could totally be an English actor who used to tour France and befriended Marguerite. ( Read more... )

It's just soooo crazy. I kind of feel like writing Adam the elf prince is crack*twelve, which is surely enough crack to offer the universe for several lifetimes.

Plus there's the fact that I am seriously the slowest writer in history. My last story took me two years to write and the one before that one four. So perhaps I'd best just concentrate on Chimera.

Feinding works, too. I'll have to go through my old entries and lock up some entries before friending new people, so it may take a few days. My old f-list was simply quite small and I think people wrote some messages on some of my old posts with the understanding they would only be read by a small circle. So I have to privatize those posts before friending anyone new is all.

ok, understandable. just to let you know, i am strictly a reader not a writer, i know that doesn't always sit well with writers, but i am a loyal reader....

OMFG fie on your reputation you totally you should not shun this idea. I wish I had some way to make this happen other than offering internet words of support.

I really, really want someone to write a story where Kris has to do the convincing YESSSS

Also ia about Regency clothes and swords being hot and love the Scarlet Pimpernel (although the scene where they beat him disguised as the Jew always made me D: D: D:)

I will be very sad if anything is only posted under friends-lock though. Maybe you could make a fic community so people who want to read any scrap by you don't also have access to your private stuff?

Well--the Pimpernel, as you point out, is not an unproblematic text itself as much as I love it. I think it'd be difficult to get at what I love about it without borrowing parts of its fail. Given, for example, the attitude towards Jews expressed in the text, I'd have a harder time dealing with Adam's own religion.

So I think if I ever did write it, it would have to be just in excerpted scenes that kind of ignored all of those issues. And to that end I'd prefer to write to a small group of people who I know rather than to the world at large.

I would so totally read this. And recc it to my friends. And save it to my laptop so even if I get stranded on an island with no internet I would still be able to read this. ^o^

Now I have go do an exorcism of my craziness.

I think, now that I've thought of it more, that it's a plot bunny that works better in idea form rather than in execution.

I don't know. I haven't given up on the idea, but it does strike me as something of a difficult proposition the more I contemplate actually writing it.

Heh, thank you. But I am sticking with writing Adam Lambert as an elf prince as crazycakes. I mean, it's a bit of a lark and I'm enjoying it. And I'm tickled as hell other people like it. But, still, elf!Adam= craaaaaaaaaack.
