So, my first lab is over, on to meat cutting! The room is kept at approximately 50 degrees. My ass is gonna be frozen for two weeks. Things are going really good for me this trimester. Chef LaCastra, who was my teacher for Food Prod. does some private work on the side. He has been asked by NASA to put a team of fifty students together to help him out for a party they are having. It has something to do with inducting astronauts into the Hall of Fame. I told him I was interested in going, but since so many students would love to go, he told me that it was going to depend on my performance in class over the two weeks. Well, on Thursday I was COD, which meant that I was in charge of the entire class for the whole day, from prep till the end of service. At the end of the day he said that I did a wonderful job and gave me the paper work necessary to be apart of the team of 50! I am so excited and nervous about it all. I have never worked in a kitchen outside of school and this is a really big deal. It is such a wonderful opportunity and Im glad I didnt chicken out of asking LaCastra to go. It's funny because I've never felt this proud of myself, ever. If I do a good job for this event it will open the door for many more opportunities.
