There is nothing lonelier than walking against New York crowd. New York crowd is an amazing beast in itself. It is intelligent, well educated and fashionably dressed. It has an annual income higher then Switzerland and comparable IQ. If you sum up the height of high heels worn in a New York crowd you could probably reach the moon.
But it is a lonely place to be. New York crowd moves around you with efficiency and chillness of a mountain stream. There are no murmurings of Viennese street bitte schoens/danke schoens. No long, evaluating Parisian boulevard glances. No staring of Beijing hutongs. New York crowd has no business for you.
New York crowd will not accept you as a part of itself. It is a stream of singularities. No physical contact will be made in densest of the crowds. Not even an eye contact would be made. Over 100 languages are spoken in New York, but the language of New York crowd is the language of silence.
