Shame: never cool. ~ Nyecamden (quoting myself, nananana)

Please note: I know I shouldn't be ashamed. That doesn't help with the actual feelingsbobs. I am working on this, partly by writing this entry.

Woah. I have all this shame stuff. ( mentions fatness, unfitness and disability )

I'm surprised that finding fat clothes is so difficult in the UK. Compared to other countries I'm familiar with, seeing fat people about is much more common in the UK. One would think some enterprising clothing sellers would take advantage of that.

Obese people are still a minority in the UK (as opposed to people who are merely a bit fat). We *are* the fattest country in Europe (I think because of our American cultural leanings). Minorities aren't as profitable to cater for.
:-) back at you

Very skinny people, petite people and very tall people all have similar clothing problems; most companies cater for the average person.

There is just *one* menswear chain in the UK that caters to the tall and/or fat. Some mainstream shops have larger sizes, but rarely above XL or XXL. (I sometimes need XXXl or XXXXL depending on cut/materials.) There is a lot of stuff available online thankfully. I just need either a bit of emotional stability or outside help to do online clothes shopping.

High & Mighty. They're pretty expensive; online shops are cheaper and have more range. But there are 3 stores in London, so that's something.

YES on "patronising dickwads." I'm now using a cane due to my new, shiny RA, and have literally had a friend rip grocery bags out of my hand after I said I could carry them. Argh! And btw, you are awesomesauce. :-)

The shopping bag thing is: on the one hand shocking, on the other hand par for the course. Ho hum!

Thanks :D

I'm with you on it being a pain in the arse to find clothes. Finding clothes that are size 18-20 and in longer lengths (let alone ones that I actually like) is a fucking nightmare, because apparently all fat people are average height according to clothing manufacturers.

I have got many words to write fat clothing rants about.

Clothing manufacturers want us all to be some unusual-in-reality average. Presumably you've tried Long Tall Sally. (I have no idea of their range/prices/usefulness.)

Long Tall Sally are pretty expensive and I don't generally like their clothes. Plus a lot of their stuff seems to cater for women who are 6 foot+ so swamps me (except in the arms - I would appear to have proportionally freakishly long arms).
