Just got a cheque for £28 refunding the express fee I paid on my tardy passport. Yay for complaining and for asking for a refund! It looks like the person who received it in error (courier company just shoved it through a letterbox that wasn't mine, they didn't get a signature) returned it to sender via the Royal Mail. I am glad to know about this because I was feeling quite icky not knowing where it was in the weeks it was missing.
