A little sadness and lots of joy
Nothing new or exciting going on in my life.
Last week I had a pretty serious breakdown. I don't know what it was, why it was, or how it got triggered, but I went to school feeling miserable. Happily, I got myself busy on things and kept working all day, but about lunch time something snapped. I shut my office door and just cried for a good ten minutes or so. Again, no idea why. I did feel better afterward; I don't know if was the cry or the fact took an extra pill (it was good that I thought to grab a few extra to thrown in my bag for the "just in case"-I'm allowed to do that kind of thing now and I'm all the more thankful for it) but I managed to get through the rest of the day. Friday was better, but it wasn't until about Friday evening that I felt much more on the normal side.
I can't remember the last time I had that big a breakdown, but when I have even the slightest I always wonder how bad it would be if I wasn't taking meds. I still remember that feeling of edging towards that line of suicidal thoughts and how scary that was, which is why I finally talked to my doc about it. I'm so glad that meds exists.
It's also kind of a raw feeling right now because of the tragedy that occurred in the YouTuber community, where sadly one of the guys seems to have taken his life. It was someone I watched, but one of the YouTubers I do watch lived with him and it's heartbreaking to see what he is going through.
But, anyway, enough of that.
Tomorrow I'm finally going to play with MLP Cladistics! I'm so excited. I'll have each of my students have a set of the four generations of ponies (rooted against a regular looking horse) to see how they choose characters and then to run the characters in PAUP to see how the trees come out. SO EXCITED.
I'm keeping it fairly simple in that I'm only using female earthlings (not counting Clever Clover, but G2 has no sexual dimorphism so he's gonna pretend for the day) and I tried to make sure G2, G3, and G4 were relatively the same (G3 needed to all have magnets in their feet and tinsel in their hair) but because of which G1 ponies I have, those all look pretty different. So, it'll be interesting to see what happens!
I think I'll take my camera and if things work out, maybe I can get a poster out of it. Because this could certainly be one with any toy that's been around a long time. GI Joes, Transformers, TMNT, heck, probably even Barbie (though I think it would be interesting to pit Barbie against all the other dolls - Bratz, Monster High, those new Ever After High ones, and maybe in the Equestria Girls - just to see how it comes out).
