Last night was a lot of fun. Kat, one of the new hires in biology, and her husband invited people over for board games.
Little in terms of board games was played, but conversation was fun. I was first there (because I tend to do that, but a second guest showed up not long after) and got dealt into some silly game called Boss Master. It's a card game where you are the boss of the dungeon, and you're trying to kill heroes with the rooms in your dungeon. Whichever dungeon boss gets ten hero souls first wins. I...failed miserably. But it was fun!
After shop talk (which I largely didn't understand because the others were within the realms of biology (Beth is psychology, but also neuroscience)) we started a game called Pandemic. It's a game where we all work together to try to keep the board from winning. Apparently it's really hard to win, but the four of us that played (myself, Kat, Beth, and Karen...all of us are newbies) kept things in check with the help of the game explainer, Sarah. We easily beat the game without having any outbreaks!
After Pandemic, it was late, so we all started to head out, but some of us stayed behind to check out the house's tunnel. This house seriously has a tunnel. It runs from the basement to the garage, where it comes up through a trap door. It was insane! But so cool! The house also has a bomb shelter! Kat and Jordan (the husband) haven't been in it yet because it's through a crawlspace and they haven't felt brave enough yet, but wow! So crazy!
As I walked home and got closer to the apartment, I thought I saw Beth sitting on the outside step. Sure enough, she was! Liz and Jeff were out (smoking?) and Beth came over to chat. We had a short conversation before Beth left and then Liz, Jeff, and I decided we needed to have a building-wide party. Haha. Drinks upstairs, games down :D This will never happen, but it's a fun thought.
Today has been SUPER lazy. Seriously. I slept late, got up to eat and watch TMNT before crawling back into bed for an hour or so. Then, later, I got about another hour's nap. I don't even know! I guess I had a couple of nights where I didn't get to sleep at my usual time, but that still seems excessive.
In happier news, I haven't had nightly blues for a few nights, so my body may have adjusted now. Else, the blues were all hormonal as that's all starting up now. Either way, it's nice to be happy :)
