So earlier this week, I saw some random movie trailer for some random romantic comedy. Yuck. I don't have anything against romantic comedies, but the ones that come out of Hollywood... they all look the same. It's like... always the same kind of guy, same kind of girl... I much prefer romantic comedy anime and manga, to by quite honest with you, nihaha.
I mean, look at this:
http://youtu.be/iAZfBVGWimM I can't say if the movie itself looks good or bad, since only once in a blue moon do I ever go to the movie theaters... Because I don't really have anybody to go with... And I often can't motivate myself enough to go see a movie by myself... and when I do, it is definitely NOT to see that kind of movie (again, not that I have anything against romantic comedies - I just turn to anime/manga for my romantic comedy fix). If I'm at a movie theater, it's because I'm there to see either Harry Potter, something with Will Smith in it or some kind of drama. Probably just Harry Potter, though.
But doesn't the lead guy and girl... look like the lead guy and girl in EVERY. SINGLE. ROMANTIC. COMEDY. MOVIE?!?! Booooooooooooooooooo! *throws an empty cup at the screen*
Well, maybe not every single cheesy romantic comedy, but 98% of them, you know. The couples in question all look the same. They pretty much all have the same personality too. Oh, sure the actual actress might be different, but in the end, it really is just clones of the same girl, over and over and over again. It's like a Poupee Girl contest.
And then I got to thinking - how come I don't ever see interracial couples in these kinds of movies? Why are there always just white couples in these kinds of movies? I don't watch a whole lot of TV anymore, but I think although not as bad as movies, this is also true for a lot of television shows too.
I don't think I've ever seen an African-American/Asian couple on a TV show or in a movie, ever. A few of the teen drama shows I used to watch when I still actually kept up with TV shows had some white/black couples, black/Hispanic couples, white/Hispanic couples, white/Asian couples... but I can't recall a single instance in my life ever seeing a black/Asian couple on TV/in a movie.
It's not like it's a far off idea! My adopted husband is Japanese, don't you know?! (Why yes, I did adopt a husband until I get an actual husband. I didn't want to be outdone by the people I knew who did have actual husbands or boyfriends and whatnot! )< So, I adopted a Japanese friend of mine as my temporary husband, and he seems to accept this honorable position.)
I really wish they would put more interracial couples on TV, especially in movies. I'm telling you, it's the same woman over and over again, they're all clones, they just go by different names.
