As Will Smith said, "Summer..summer..summertime."

So Roman and I, we survived two full days without air conditioning and internet. The internet was more a nuisance to me, of course.... but the 90 degree house rather annoyed us both. It's tough designing websites with no internet, no cool air, and a hot sweaty screaming baby in the floor next to you. Such matters tend to stifle creativity, even in the greatest of minds.

Monica continues to work a shit-ton of overtime, but thanks to GNC vitamins and a really great attitude, she has kept her spirits positive and happy. I am very proud of how hard she's working, as she attempts to almost single-handedly fund this wedding of ours. Don't get me wrong, I have income too, but I am self-employed so generating additional revenue for me is more difficult than throwing in some extra hours.

This summer has sped by. Last year, it dragged on, because it was our first summer with the kids away, and Monica was pregnant. Each week seemed to pass slower than the one before. This summer, I don't know if it's because we aren't as concerned about the kids' well-being, or if it's the lack of a fetus growing inside her belly, or if time really does fly when you're having fun. But it seems like yesterday when we put the kids on airplanes. I am very excited to see them again, and for them to see the baby and all his new tricks.

The next few months of our lives are going to be so incredibly busy. The kids come back from their summer vacations in a week, at which point we are taking them to Sea World. Then comes the wedding, and our 6 day honeymoon excursion to Busch Gardens, Disney, and Nassau. We have 3 kids with birthdays between now and November, Halloween (which is a big deal around here), Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I guess everybody has those last 3 things, but when you have 4 children, those are not simply holidays, they are events which require weeks of pre-planning. And, all of it is expensive as hell.

I keep thinking of how nice it will be in [ insert number ] weeks, when things calm down. But then I remember that there is never a time in this household when things are calm. There's always something coming up. Not that I'm complaining, life is fun but .... very stressful. Sometimes, I'd just like to be able to take a deep breath.

And on that note, it's time to juggle my job and this crazy toddler who ignores 25 baby toys while digging in the trash and chewing on electrical wires.

the kids, our life, family
