NY Giants Dad & NY Giants Brother vs. Dallas Cowboys

Jul 14, 2013 08:08

Yesterday, I realized that my brother's visit from California for the wedding coincides with NFL opening day! That means, we'll be watching our first Giants game together in over 10 years! And, as if the football gods were smiling on us from the start, the Giants open up against our most hated team, the Dallas Cowboys!

Let that soak in, friends. NY Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys, with all of us in our jerseys, and the girls making snacks and drinks all afternoon for our consumption. This will be an awesome day.

Obviously, the wedding 2 days later will eclipse it (as far as you know) ... but this will still be an amazing day. That is, assuming the Giants win, of course. If they lose, we may just have to burn down Marco Island.

On an unrelated note, I really believe that a country as technologically advanced as ours, which has proven so by putting a man on the moon and computers in our phones, should be able to build a mouse with a fingerprint pad that can alert Facebook as to which account to automatically log into in the morning. It always chooses Monica's, and I'm becoming bitter about it.

Today is Monica's only day off this week ... in fact, she has 3 days off in a stretch of 21 days. I'm not sure what we're going to do, but I hope it refreshes her. I know she is getting burned out. I feel guilty sometimes that she has to go to her job day-in and day-out, 12 hours at a time, while I sit at home on my computer and play with websites. Then I remember that I am also providing daycare services to our 9-month old demon child, and the guilt just flitters away as quickly as it came.

I had a really strange dream last night. I don't remember it. But I know it was strange.

Florida managed to botch another high profile case. First they let Casey Anthony walk into fame and riches and a Hollywood movie deal after murdering her baby, and now they let George Zimmerman walk away after shooting down a defenseless kid on the street. Oh, but at least we put away the mom for 20 years who simply fired warning shots in her own home to try to fend off an attack by her abusive husband.

Just when I think there is hope for this country, I'm reminded that there isn't.

But at least there's that Giants vs. Cowboys game.

stuff of interest, our life, family
