Having done my epic tour of western Belgian megaliths, I realised that I didn't have any photos of the one closest to us, so took U on an expedition to photograph it this afternoon. I found out a few weeks ago, greatly to my delight, that the woods near our house are basically full of Bronze Age and Gallo-Roman tumuli. Today being a bank holiday and a fine day, we went out in search of the two nearest (numbered 2 and 3 on the linked map), and found them fairly easily.

In my continuing quest to track down ancient Belgian sites, we made an expedition today to find the Pierre-qui-Tourne, the supposedly Rotating Rock, of the hamlet of Beaurieux, near the village of Court-St-Étienne (located at roughly 50° 38' 14.61" north, 4° 35' 22.23" east, for those of you inclined to track it down; about thirty km from us).

I decided to try B on something a bit different on our Sunday outing today; just the other side of where she lives is a significant concentration of Gallo-Roman tumuli, and I thought it would be nice to see if I could explore them with her, armed with the GPS coordinates from Francophone Wikipedia.

We went to Tyrella beach yesterday, and I remembered that it is practically within spitting distance of Ballynoe Stone Circle, County Down's rather modest answer to Stonehenge and Avebury.
