Deadline
First, thanks to everyone who wished me well yesterday. My cold has taken a turn for the better just as quickly as it turned bad yesterday. That's a big relief, heading into the weekend. It's bad enough that this is slowing me down at work.
Speaking of work, I'm back in the office just in time to give my boss a presentation tomorrow morning. This is a preview of a demo that I'm giving twice next week: First I'm showing it to a small but international audience Tuesday at too-damn-early o'clock, then to my VP's entire lab Wednesday at lunch. Remember a couple weeks ago, when I was crowing about hitting a milestone at work? I'll be showing off the new tool that I built. Unfortunately, it's not the most presentation-friendly thing: You type in a command, and it either shows you a short list of probabilities or nothing at all. The exciting part is the how and why we're calculating these numbers. Hopefully the audience gets it. If not, at least it's a short demo, haha.
Anyway, I can't wait until I'm done with this cold and this demo. I haven't really had the time and energy to post anything thoughtful here, just quick status updates on my life. I enjoy the longer pieces that I write, but it's too hard to focus when I'm sick and tired.
