So, things are status quo here as far as baby girl cooking. I'm not having as many contractions, but I'm a little freaked because her head is already engaged. I'll feel a lot more comfortable after 30 weeks. Tomorrow is 27 weeks.
Eli really wants the baby to come, and before I thought it was because he was so excited (because he kept saying how excited he was.) Today he had a different reason. Because I can't play with him. makes me feel pretty bad. Oh well. I'm working on figuring out how to change the things we eat so we can actually eat meals together when I can't really stand up for more than a few minutes in the evening. I managed to prepare dinner tonight in <5 minutes and I think I"ll be able to tell Mark how to make dinner tomorrow night.
Tonight at dinner as we sat down Elias said, starting our mealtime conversation like a little expert: "So, did you know today was the groundhog day" and I tried to listen to what else he was saying, but the whole situation made me laugh. My little conversationalist.
I have to schedule his 4 year check up, and there we will re-assess his weight and I will bring up for the first time my concerns about his hand strength. He can't hold a pen/marker/crayon correctly and his formation of letters is pretty awful... some of that is he doesn't want to try. So today when he was sad about me not being able to play with him, I said we could go home and color and he basically confirmed something I have thought for the last year. He said "I don't want to, I don't like coloring! It makes my hand feel funny." I don't know how to help him to strengthen his hand without trying to get him to do something he really hates doing, and causing fights and anger and ultimately further resistance... so I definitely can't go that route. He likes cutting but won't use scissors correctly for what I assume is the same reason, so I'm going to ask the Dr. about it and also buy a game that requires tweezers to pick up colored objects, and hopefully I can get him to use the tweezers the right way to build some hand strength.
Crossing fingers!
