Of magic ducks & magic wands
Can I say that I have been having entirely too much fun watching/reading Harry Potter & watching anime with Ryan lately? Mikey seems like he's not as into it, but he's the one that wants me to make sure I read a whole chapter at bedtime & wants me to finish the episode or movie if Ryan falls asleep.
We've watched HP 1-3, and at the moment I'm planning to read the first 4 books to them before getting the next movie. That'll probably take a few months, though...
As for anime, Ryan and I are loving Princess Tutu, which is one of my favorites. In fact, when I started an episode tonight, and then went upstairs to say good night to Michael (he went to bed early because he was exhausted from work), a few minutes later Ryan was crying heartbrokenly, "Aren't you going to watch with me?", so I had to rewind it back to the beginning. As I said, Mikey's usually also following along, although he doesn't always look it, and TJ is always waiting for the duck to show up. I'm already considering our next series, if Ry is still interested. It'll need to be dubbed, and while Utena might be the closest to Tutu in a way, it probably isn't appropriate for a 6 yr old...so I'm thinking Furuba. Cardcaptor Sakura would be fun, but I'm guessing the only dub is that God-awful "Cardcaptors". On a more shounen side, I wonder if he'd be into Naruto. Oh, I thought of one - I wonder if they'd like Tenchi Muyo? That didn't have too much in the way of fanservice, did it? Of course, if there was a HP anime, he'd be all over it, but all I can think of is Negima and that's looks way too "Harem", and what else would there be...Mahou Tsukai Tai?
Actually what Ryan really wants to check out next is Digimon, but I don't have any of that in my vast collection.
Ryan also sometimes watches Doctor Who with me (which Mikey finds a bit too scary).
Oh, and there's always Star Wars...
