The Softer Passions (another drabble)

Being not only the close but also the… intimate… friend of Sherlock Holmes bears its own rewards - and its own emotional challenges. Quite some time after we had extended our relationship to a physical level I was still wondering about the extent of his feelings for me. When I finally dared to mention my insecurity he looked at me with amazement in his wonderful grey eyes: “Oh, my dearest Watson! Do you really think I would have ventured the risk of opening up to softer passions of any kind if those passions would not be truly consisting of utter love?”
