Not updated for ages cause i've not been online for ages, had a fairly hectic (in a good way) few weeks. A few weeks ago i was half arsedly trying to find a holiday job somehwere anywhere because i've never had a job n by now everyone my age either has a job or has had atleast one, i've just never really wanted to, i like being a lazy student, also the more money i have the more fun stuff i get to do with my Barry which is anything from getting takeaway to going on holiday, anyhoo i filled in an application form on the B&Q website, i think it was stupid o'clock one sunday evening, the next day i was woken up at about 10 with a phone call from B&Q asking if i was still looking for a job n would i be interested in going to a recruitment day a week on friday (2nd June) so i said yeah, i went along to that not really knowing what to expect, i had a 1 on 1 interview but it was quite informal, the lady interviewing me was chatty and helped me with the questions she was asking because i couldn't relate them to other work situation so i had to think of school/college/uni stuff instead, it was weird because she was telling me stuff about working there as though i'd already got a job there, so i was sat there thinking omg i've done it i've got a job... that was so easy! She said they'd let me know the following week by Tuesday at the latest if i'd been accepted (although the way she was talking i'd already got a place there). Mum picked me up from there n we went to Starbucks for some girly time, then she dropped me at the station n i got the train to Barry's, i love that train journey so much, really going to miss it when he moves up here, it's just really relaxing and pretty especially Oxford-Didcot-Swindon, so many stupid bunnies! (stupid if you've seen curse of the warerabbit heehee) i was at his from friday till friday and we packed a lot of stuff like duvet covers n sheets n pillow cases, kitchen things and electrical things, and had so much fun emptying the huge 200 disk dvd player and finding the cases for everything
I got a phone call during the week just like they said, saying i had a job and that i started my training the next week and they'd send me all the details in the post eeeeeep. Barry drove us back to mine on friday and we went straight to the agency to pick up OUR keys for OUR place heehee, and Barry finally got to have a look at the place, i think he approves
we emptied the car n went to mum n dads to stay there for the night then spent Sat,Sun,Monday nights at OUR place, omg so cool! We kept looking at each other n grinning n going wow this is OUR place.
Monday i started my training at B&Q, we (6 of us from stockport) went to Runcorn for a welcome day where we got told lots of information, we got a free lunch of the yummiest sandwiches ever and it was great getting to know the people from the stockport store
that was 8:30-4:30 although we were back at the store for about half 3. Tuesday Barry drove me to the store and then went home
i was there 9:30-3:30 and we got lots of talks from different people about lots of things which was all very interesting, today we had more talks and also got to have some time in our different departments, i'm on checkout which is surprisingly fun, got a gun thingy to zap the bar codes and a touch screen system to do all the different transactions on, i was with Maxine to start off with and she was saying how quickly i picked everything up, i'd taken over her till by the end of the 2 hours i was there for lol she must have been so bored. Had some more talks after lunch n then got some more till time until we left at 3:30 n i was thinking that if i went home i'd just be sat on my arse watching tv so i might aswell stay for another hour n get some more money. I was with lucy on the till for most of the time but was on my own for the last 15 mins ish which was great, i feel so much more confident about the whole job now i've had a go n found i can do it. i really like the shop to. it's huuuuuuuuuuuge but it's such a nice environment, it's bright n chearful feeling n i've always loved the smell in there, wood and paint, very nice. I also thought that it'd be a good place because it's not in the town centre n really not a place that stupid brain dead chav/skallys are going to be hanging around, so far i'm right yey all the customers i served today were nice and friendly and all the employee's i've met so far and the same, they all say hi to you when you walk past even though you don't know them, really makes you feel comfortable.
Anyhoo got another two days of training which i hope will be as good as the past 3 days, then i'm supposed to work weekends and tues n thurs evening but they said that as i've been in all week i can have sat off n start sunday so that's cool. Sorry for the long long rambling i've just been having so much fun that i wanted to write it down to remember it
Ciao for now,
Cate.
