[backdated 'cause I missed it]
[This time when Black*Star wakes up there is no one there to fight. That doesn't stop him jumping off the bed and turning in all directions, looking for himself and Tsubaki.
He doesn't find them. What he does notice, however, is a small device on the floor. He picks it up carefully and it clicks on.]
"Hurry up you guys! It's starting!" [Maka pushes Soul into the frame. She's older and smiling, and Kid and the others all crowd in after her. The picture moves from them and up towards a stage, where Black*Star stands with his arms out to cheers from the crowd.]
“And we honor Black*Star, for his great exploits as Shibusen’s greatest assassin and technician.” [Shinigami holds out a giant star-shaped badge and Black*Star takes it. The crowd cheers more.] “And for giving me the best Death Scythe I’ve ever had-Tsubaki.”
[Black*Star bows to the crowd and laughs, big and loud and just plain happy. Maka and the others cheer too, and even Mifune is there, all banged up and defeated and acknowledging the better fighter.]
[Black*Star sets down the recorder and grins. Exactly. That’s just how it should go. As soon as he gets off this ship he’s gonna go back and waste Mifune and get Tsubaki her 100 souls and he’s gonna make Shibusen and everyone else know just. How. AWESOME. He is.
