Barnes and Noble isn't as bad as I suggested in my last journal. In a nutshell, my manager told me that I had screwed up when I had been doing the best I could, which is pretty good. It bothered me, because I thought her opinion was the opinion of the other managers, including the district manager. As it turns out, they recognize how hard and how well I work for them, which is a nice thing.
Did I mention that I have a cell phone now? The number is (415) 368-5376, for anyone who wants the number. (And no, I'm not worried about stalkers. I think I have a good idea of how many people read my journal, and it's not many.) The cell is nice to have, but it's also sort of a pain. This morning I called a friend, because we had made plans last night to go to Black Diamond Mines this morning. When I called she didn't sound very good, but I could barely hear her. I asked her what she was up to, and she said something I couldn't understand. So instead of asking, "What? What was that?" a half dozen times, I just asked, "Um, are you ready for me to come pick you up?" She said, "Well, you can if you want, but I am throwing up right now." Poor girl. She has to throw up and then deal with me. Stupid cell phone.
Last night Steve and Jess came over as usual, and Tyler also came by. Arrested Development was on, and they announced at the end of the show that there was indeed going to be a second season, which made me very happy. I admit that I don't watch much television at all, but Arrested Development is the best thing I've seen in a long time. Everyone should watch it.
After the shows we sat in the hot tub and talked and laughed for a while. It still amazes me when I see Steve say things that are completely unrelated to what we were talking about, but are things that I was thinking about as well. Steve is very cool. Everyone should have a Steve of their own.
