I wanted to show off our latest addition. We've had her a month now. Her name is Lilah and we got her from the local animal shelter. They said she was about 1 year and 8 months old, but she acts Much younger. It has been quite an adjustment for us. I haven't had a puppy in almost 20 years! We decided to adopt another dog because we thought our other dog, Zoey, needed a companion. Zoey is very shy and withdrawn around anyone other than G or myself. She is a completely different dog when it's just us - very energetic and loving. She had definitely been abused when we adopted her. Zoey has been playing and herding the cats a lot recently trying to get them to play with her. It worked most of the time and it was fun to watch, but I had a tiny fear that she would accidently hurt one of the cats while playing. So, off we went in search of another dog. We knew we had to get a dog that was smaller than Zoey. She had shown aggression towards Large dogs in the past, but LOVED LOVED LOVED playing with small dogs. That was definitely a challenge. Most rescue organization in our area only had medium/large dogs. I also felt awful descriminating against the larger dogs. They needed a home too! But I had to do what was right for our household. Fortunately, we came across Lilah. Lilah is full of energy, loving, and crazy. She has really brought Zoey out of her shell. They wrestle constantly. When friends and family come over Zoey will at the very least greet everyone and depending on who it is will stick around during the visit to be petted and loved. It is really remarkable. The other day she tried her damnedest to sit in my SIL lap. I couldn't believe it. She does still have an aversion to men. Lilah is really funny around our Devon Rex, Lex. Lilah is always inspecting him like she doesn't know what he is. She looks at him like "Are you sure you're a cat???"
