Looking up

Well, things are starting to look a bit better. There's that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm hoping that's it's not an oncoming train. The way my luck has run, though, I should probably be hugging the walls just in case.

Pending the results of a physical to be conducted Monday, I have a job. It's still only part time, doesn't pay great, and not exactly the kind of thing I'd like to be doing for a prolonged period, but it's at least regular work. I am very much indebted to
katmandu07 for helping me find this position with her company, and talking me up with her boss.

With InConJunction now less than two weeks away, things are shifting into high gear. My thanks to
beldar for his help in creating a board for my game, to help in the play-testing. We're trying right now to set the times for two demo sessions at the convention, both on Saturday, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. I'm pretty well booked with programming sessions on Sunday, and Friday night is always busy with opening ceremonies and such, but maybe we can slide a third one in there somewhere if people seem interested enough.

I'm also trying to work out a short introductory overstory for
confusedjew's photo scavenger hunt thingy, that we can hand out to participants for some background and atmosphere. She's put a lot of work into those clues and I really hope that it goes well. This will be the second year now that we've tried to do something similar, to get people circulating throughout the entire convention space, and I'd love to see that continue, as I think it benefits the con as a whole when we can get people exposed to as much of it as possible.

Talked to my sister the other day, and Mom seems to be doing pretty well since her SO's passing. She's searching for a less expensive apartment because, as a real estate broker, her solo income is rather unpredictable. She does quite well when she closes deals, but the market has been very poor this past couple of years. Gee, wonder why that might be?

I'm still hoping to get my old GURPS Illuminated multi-genre campaign running again, but it has been very difficult to find a time that works well for everyone who wants to play. I suppose that it will have to wait until the convention has passed, and then I will jump back on it and try to bully everyone into a commitment.

Being out of work has left me with time to catch up on my reading. I'm currently in the middle of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods", which has been highly recommended by several of my friends, in particular
per_solo and
katmandu07

I can see why.

I think that pretty well covers it for now. Until next time, Shalom, y'all.

inconjunction, life
