Lesson 2 of ENGL 104…..
Imagination is the key to our inner thoughts.
Something in which we use to express how we are really feeling about the world.
Secrets which are kept inside, only for our hearts to find.
Most of these thoughts and feelings are kept inside so they don’t hurt others, but deep inside we are hurting ourselves.
Dear Diary,
For today’s lesson I must admit, I was one of those few people who didn’t read the stories which would be discussed in tutorial. Therefore, since my English is not advanced as my fellow classmates, it made it even more difficult for me to grasp the story and its ideas on the couple’s decision on abortion (Hills like white elephants).
But what I liked about the tutorials is how we get to hear the other student’s ideas and perspective on the stories, which deeply affected my perspective on the stories concept.
Everyone has their own worlds and are individual, if not the world would be what Huxley suggested in “Brave New World” (I know I’m sad for remembering HSC English…sorry)
But when you think about the future and what the world would be like in more than 100 years, people will no longer be called “humans” instead clones coming from test tubes!
For the lecture I really enjoyed the activity, how we had to write our own story (even though I couldn’t think of one) I liked listening to the other students ideas. Even though I have no idea on how they come up with such extravagant ideas but I love all the stories!
GO LEFT HANDED PEOPLE! :D and the “your heart is my pinyada” story….*cries*
I really enjoyed the way Woolf described the flowers and the snail’s adventure in the garden. Her use of words really made me think of the snail’s perspective and gave me strong images in my head of what was going on in the garden. My goal is to write like that! (As if) but I’ll try :P
After today’s lesson this quote immediately came to me
“A picture means a thousand words” but to me it’s the other way around.
“A word means a thousand pictures”
The use of words and sentences can create so many different perspectives and images in everyone’s individual minds its amazing! Makes me want to draw everything I imagine!
So people keep using you heads, so I can draw from your imaginations!
