Everything was so calm. Flowers in an open field, the sun shining brightly without a cloud in the sky, and it never changed. And then he felt the drag of time enveloping him, pangs of hunger in his stomach for the first time in his life, and falling...
Falling through the clouds. The whole world seemed so much bigger now and he couldn't figure out why. He traveled until he became tired, rested, and then warmth...
"There you go, little one."
Now he was traveling again, but happier. There was some bouncing in the back, an occasional burn or foul-smelling mist, a slice through the air that hurt his ears... but all the same, he was happier now. It was like that for a long time and his only regret was that with time passing now, he could feel each day drag by... and yet when he opened mouth, nothing happened. It was as if no one could hear him.
But in the distance was the sun setting over the sea, and that gave him hope. He went as high as he could before diving into the deep water, relishing in how far he could stretch out now. He felt more and more cramped as he stretched farther, warmth washing over him as dusk faded.
It had been a long day, but now it was time to sleep. He curled up tightly and fell asleep next to the one who'd first dubbed him "little one", content to have found Enlightenment after so long below the flower-covered clouds.
Now if only he could remember how he'd done it...
He felt pain at two spots near the top of his head, near his shoulder-blades, and the base of his spine. His eyes flew open and he woke up with a start, limbs thrashing all over as he mourned the loss of... his body? Soul? Efforts? Friends? Journey? Goal? Karma.
