Geoffrey had spent his entire lunch hour preparing for his afternoon class, and by the time that class was ready to start, the ground of the entire Quidditch pitch was covered with feather mattresses that he'd conjured. He waited until all but the last few stragglers had shown up at the entrance to the pitch, then greeted them before launching into his spiel

Cassie looked around the group, hoping to find a partner. Particularly a partner who was good at safety spells. She didn't think she was too bad at staying on her broom, but considering the falls she'd taken at Quidditch tryouts, maybe not. (Then again, Cassie thought, that was really the bludgers' fault, not hers.)

Like the week before, the Quidditch pitch was once again covered with feather mattresses Geoffrey had conjured when his second year class arrived. "Same as last week, kids," he told them. "So find your partners and pair up. If you make enough progress this week, we can start on useful defensive spells in the second half of the class."

Broom slung over his shoulder, Ramsey cheerfully jogged onto the Quidditch pitch. He was feeling much better now that Bridget was back safe and finally able to leave St. Mungo's. That he'd finally made the regular team didn't his mood either. This was it, after all - the year that he was finally going to make something of himself on the team! He had a position and he finally had a broom that wasn't half bad.

Cody had retrieved his broom back from Naia. He had carefully checked it over, making sure no twigs were bent -- she didn't know the first thing about brooms, in Cody's opinion, and now she was the Ravenclaw seeker? Cody was incredulous, and he rolled his eyes.

((Christ, didn't even see this one. Thanks for that, Mandeh! :P))
Tobias strolled out of the dressing rooms, arching an eyebrow at the sight of the two younger lads standing idly about. Where the fuck was everyone else? "Why're you just standing there?" He demanded, swinging his leg over his own broom. "Get in the air and warm up, dammit."
With these supportive words, Tobias shot up into the sky and began to lap the pitch on his broom. He wasn't about to let this practice run overtime because some stupid kids couldn't get the motivation to warm themselves up. It was great that they were were on time (early even!), but to think that they were going to contentedly wait there for someone to issue instructions? Tobias wasn't impressed. Now where was that stupid bint of a captain?

Nate was absolutely thrilled to be on the team. He'd just known he was going to make it this year and he was absolutely ecstatic to be at practice now.
Which was probably why he was an hour early.
No matter, he launched himself into the air, deciding to fly around the Pitch for a bit while he waited for the rest of the team.

Anya's mood had completely changed from that of tryout day. Rather than being indifferent and unsure, she was now fully decided that being on the team was what she wanted. Her head was in the game and she was determined more than ever to be the best Beater out there. So what if she was still younger and had less experience than some of the others?? What she lacked in that experience she would make up for in passion and hard work. At least it sounded like a good plan.
Only time would tell. She was just glad no one had stolen her position. It was a new year on the team, the slate was clear and this time she was going to do whatever it took to see that Hufflepuff came away with the cup.
So yay for practice!!
She took off into the air as well the second that she arrived onto the pitch, waving and yelling out a greeting to Nate. Having new blood on the team would take some getting used to, but Anya was thinking positive and hoped that all the members would fit together and become united instantly.
Re: Hufflepuff Practice - Tuesdayim_a_tripSeptember 26 2007, 18:42:56 UTC
Trip was excited, nervous, and altogether very confused. She went to the tryouts on a lark, and ended up on the team. Obviously someone's got a few screws loose, but this time it wasn't Trip.
She mounted her broom, and joined Anya and Nate up in the air. At least she wasn't the only new person this year. Not to mention, having Anya and J.J. both on the team was going to be year round entertainment.

Having stolen borrowed her brother's broom, Ruth Ann trotted out to the pitch for practice. She probably would have forgotten about to show up entirely, except Nimuë had poked her and reminded her. Ah, the tragedy of having friends.
Honestly, she had no idea why she was on the team. She had a sneaking suspicion that Derek had bet on one of the other teams winning the cup at the end of the year and was trying to influence his chances of winning some dough.
Re: Ravenclaw Practice - Wednesday, Sept. 20thderek_blySeptember 27 2007, 23:58:37 UTC
Derek most certainly had not intentionally sabotaged his team. Or taken bets against them. He would have been very offended had someone said as much to his face. As it was, he beamed at Ruth Ann when he spotted her. Initiative! That was what he liked to see. And hey, even if she hadn't spotted the snitch she hadn't fallen either. A Quaffle was considerably easier to see and she'd made a good dodge in tryouts besides. A little polishing was all she needed.
Right.
Anyway, Derek grinned. "Hey, glad to see we didn't scare you off."

Naia showed up to practice over dressed -- wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, not looking ready to practice -- and her hands in her pockets, no broom to be seen. She walked up and stopped a distance away from Derek. "Hey," she said. "Can I talk to you?"
