Friday, March 24 - Leaky Cauldron - a little before noon ed_agate February 12 2007, 04:02:57 UTC
Ed was a bit early for the meeting and nodded at the bartender as he came in and took a seat at the dark bar; a stark contrast to the bright winter sun outside.

He wasn't really excited for this meeting, reading the prophet and knowing that Dylan was dead. He sighed and took the the beer that was handed to him and slowly sipped the alcohol as his mind reeled, trying to figure out what the next step would be.

Merlin.Lenore laid a hand over the knots in her stomach as she walked into the pub and tried to calm down. She hated Order meetings. She hated the need for calling them, she hated having said she would help, and she hated getting herself involved in this. If she hadn't let Mac talk her into this whole thing when he had would she have cared that Mayfield was dead? No. She wouldn't have known him as anything but a name and she wouldn't have felt like the news meant they were one step closer to coming for her. It was safe in Mysteries. She had everything she wanted and no one bothered her and so what if the Ministry was going straight into the other side's hands because they weren't going to mess with someone who dealt in things none of them were trusted to touch ( ... )

Ed looked out of the corner of his eye who had come in. It was risky being here before the meeting, just drinking. He kept his head down mostly and took another sip of his beer, taking the moment to find out who it was who had come in.

He tried not to let his body tense as he recognized Lenore; can't let signs of what is going to happen upstairs... not everyone in this bar could be trusted.

He could, on the other hand..put people off the trail by making them think it's something else.. and without another thought in his head he walked over to Lenore and gave her an intimate hug and light kiss on the lips. "Hey there.."

Her gaze swept across Ed and for a moment Lenore felt her heart jump hopefully into her throat. Ed she trusted. Ed was safe. Drawing attention to the fact that they were both here might not be though and she hesitated in going over.

Her relief when he stood gave Lenore room to breathe and she relaxed, if only a little, as he came over. She could hide behind Ed then. This would go alright because she wasn't alone and- The kiss threw her off set a step or two.

Blinking in confusion, Lenore could only stare at Ed as he pulled back casually- and with the audacity to say 'Hey there' as though this were an every day occurrence. Did he just- Oh, damn it. Any other day Lenore would have been much better equipped to deal with a situation like this but instead she was left to scramble. "H-hi," she stammered, casting a look around the pub again out of embarrassment and a quickly assumed (though not entirely faked) case of nerves. "I know I'm early ( ... )

Friday, March 24 - Leaky Cauldron Rm 401 - Noon np_dumbledore February 12 2007, 04:24:00 UTC
It was becoming a bit harder to get out of Hogwarts at the current moment but Dumbledore had his ways of still. Now he stood in the empty room of the hotel above the bar and waited for the other members to arrive.

Hearing about Dylan Mayfield was disheartening and he knew that his death was probably only a smaller piece of a larger Death Eater movement to find out what had happened to Davison. Of course that was to be expected but he hadn't thought they would find any leads.

Then of course was the information that Davison had given them.. that the Death Eaters had been in talks with the Goblins for something.. he worried now. His brow furrowing and showing more of his age than normal.

Mac went straight up to the room when he arrived. Getting away from the office hadn't proved very difficult at all for him - the Head Auror going out into the field in these times wasn't terribly unusual - and he didn't want to be bothered with a cover story. Quick and direct was the plan.

And no one who knew the man would expect him to be anything but his usually gruff self. Sometimes having a reputation as a grump was an advantage.

He nodded to Dumbledore as he entered the room and his usual gruff expression was replaced by a frown. Disturbing new, lately. He was worried, more so than he cared to admit. They needed a plan and fast, before teh Death Eaters got any more of an upper hand in things.

Ed walked into the room, his hand leaving hers as soon as they entered and he caught sight of Mac. Of course he politely nodded to dumbledore and soon took his place by his mentor. "Hey there old man."

Although he was still slightly irked that Mac had encouraged Jul to be an order, this was definitely not the time to let those thoughts get in the way. Right now there were bigger things at hand.

Raza ran up the stairs to the rooms as silently as he could. He'd gotten good at moving fast and quietly in the last few years. He was nearly certain that no one had seen him downstairs. It wouldn't usually matter but given the events of the week? Raza was trying to keep a low profile.

He nodded slightly at the group and stood in one of the corners, arms folded. Raza was here to listen. Few in the Order knew what he did, and he recognised the suspicion in their eyes. Ignoring the looks he was being given, Raza kept his eyes on Dumbledore. He wasn't sure how much the man knew, but Raza wasn't about to take any chances. Not after the week he'd just had.

Friday, March 24th - Outside the Leaky Cauldron, post-meeting lenore_grey February 14 2007, 04:29:28 UTC
This was not her thing. As soon as the meeting was over, Lenore ducked out because staying for any idle chatter after business was not something she was up for right now; neither was she ready to return to work, however, and rather than apparate straight away, she walked outside the Leaky Cauldron and tried to let the cold air clear her head ( ... )

Mac wasn't one for idle chatter, so he slipped away from the meeting as soon as he could get away with it. He was worried about Lenore, too, so once she'd ducked out, he made his goodbyes and followed her a few moments later. It wasn't safe, anyway, for her to head back alone.

Sure, Mac knew that Lenore was capable, certainly not weak, but he somehow felt it his job to protect her. Maybe it was because he'd pulled her into all of this to begin with.

At least, he could tell himself that and be satisfied with the answer.

Mac followed behind her for a bit, keeping his distance and just watching her, but it wasn't just her physical safety he was concerned with, so he quickened his pace until he fell into step beside her, not really saying anything for the moment, content to just walk with.

The sound of footsteps behind her didn't bother Lenore, not until they sped up as they got closer and she turned a bit too quickly only see Mac falling into step next to her. "Merlin." She exhaled the curse in relief and closed her eyes for a moment. "Don't do that," she insisted, turning again to slap Mac not at all softly with the back of her hand. Lenore should have been glad to have the company and she would be just as soon as her heart rate went back to normal. Bloody Aurors.

And Christ, she was a mess.

Well, Mac hadn't intended to scare her at all! He felt instantly guilty when he realized he had and he didn't much blame her for the smack, which hadn't really hurt anyway.

"Sorry," he muttered, reaching to rub at the back of his head. He looked down at her and gave her a somewhat concerned smile.

"You're... are you alright?"

It was probably a stupid question, given the topic of the meeting they'd both just come from, but Mac wasn't really good at this whole showing concern or talking to people thing. Not when it came to this sort of thing, anyway, and he wasn't really sure what was better to say or ask, so he just went with stupid.

[Order meeting, continued from http://community.livejournal.com/np_atlas/6516.html?thread=210804#t210804]

"I'm talking about ignoring the system and creating our own," Raleigh replied. "There's nothing left to the ministry- we've what... two departments that You-Know-Who doesn't own?" Aury was at Hogwarts, and Raleigh couldn't even trust the little girl's safety there. "Make people aware of it- not through papers, not through secret politics. Shout it from the damn rooftops- be honest. We have no reason to sulk in corners, or to hide what we think. The world doesn't trust anymore, why can't we just stop whispering and present the outright truth, without prettying it up or making ineffective stabs against the other side?"

She believed what she said, there was no way to continue hiding this. "The Prophet has given us the tools already, they're making people doubt. Now what we need to do is use that doubt, and give people solid and truthful concepts of the state of things, ( ... )

This entire conversation resonated too much with responsibility, something Geoffrey was less than familiar with. Still, better to try than to pretend not to hear. "Honesty's a good idea," he said, nodding to Raleigh, "the only thing will be getting people to believe the truth's the truth." Which was damned hard to do when no one was all that likely to believe what the Quibbler printed. He still though character assassination was the way to go, because people were far more likely to believe gossip than anything else, if for no other reason than that they really wanted to.

"As for making them all jumpy... how d'you propose we do that? This map just gives locations, from what I've been led to believe, and that's not terribly help...ful..." He frowned, thinking. "Unless you want to plant the idea that there's a double agent in their midsts, though that could get a little chancy, seems to me..." Geoffrey honestly had no idea if the Order actually did have an insider (he knew that he was one of the last people who would be hearing anything ( ... )

Cal focused his attention to the center of the room, specifically, a spot in the carpet. He listened as everyone spoke, considering what they said. He didn't particularly disagree with any point but, then again, it seemed that everyone was serious about wanting action. The only disagreement was how much action everyone wanted to take. (Even Nigel seemed a more zealous than normal.)

Honestly, he didn't know what to think. He agreed with so many points... it just felt wrong to act like those he was trying to fight against. On that same note, those actions were what kept them on top.

He didn't want to kill but when it came down to it, he'd do anything to protect those that he loved.

"I'll go with whatever is decided," he announced. "As stated, I don't want to kill but if it's viewed as they only course of action, I'll do as ordered."

It was as simple as that, wasn't it? He was going to do whatever they wanted him to... other than that, his random additions to the conversation were rather pointless.

He... was late. Fantastic. Nothing quite as nice as being late to a meeting, was there? He had reason to be, of course -- he was busy following orders that had been given to him and they'd taken a bit longer to follow through than he had expected. Better late than never though, right? He sighed a bit, rolling his neck to get a few of the kinks out. Hopefully, he hadn't missed too much...

As he entered the Leaky Cauldron, the temptation to buy something strong to drink washed over him, but he managed to put that urge off until later.

Orlando groaned a little internally as he slipped inside the room, head ducked as he entered as quietly as he could. Frowning a little, Orlando slipped into a seat, trying not to draw much attention to himself as he quietly listened in.
