I think I finally have everything I need for Iceland.
My ridiculously expensive, waterproof, supposedly safe in hot springs, hiking boots are actually pretty comfy.
I slept in my sleepsack last night to make sure I wouldn't strangle myself but it is very roomy so that's all good.
Got an adapter for electrical outlets today. I already had the little adapter plugs (somewhere...) from Argentina but I needed a converter because I had brought pretty much nothing except for my mp3 player with me last time. Of course it only freaking does 2 plugs and not grounded plugs which sucks and means I'll have to get an adapter for that as well.
I'm all set with clothes, just need to start packing soon. It's a pain in the ass having to bring regular clothes, at least one nice outfit (that I can somehow turn into 3...maybe one pair of dress pants and 3 shirts or something...not sure what to do about shoes, I hate to bring a 3rd pair along (bring hiking boots and sneakers) just for 3 nights and they can;t be my tiny sandals because it could possibly be snowy), and field clothes for conditions that can range from 10º and snowing to 70º and sunny. Gotta love Icelandic summer. It all needs to fit in my 60L backpack.
At least I figured out my regular socks can act as liners with my hiking socks so I should be ok with just my 4 prs of hiking socks
Finished successfully hacking my netbook to run OSX86. Just have no wifi or sleep mode right now (the geeks have been working on those for over a year and still no success) so I'm dual booting with XP still. At least this way I can still access my normal programs while I'm there without needing to lug my MacBook.
Need to figure out how to pack all the stuff for classes, electronics and camera equipment in the least amount of space possible.

I'll have...
2 field books and a lab book, 3-4 pencils, colored pencils, 3-4 pens, tape, small scissors (all of that misc. stuff in a little pencil bag), folder for paperwork
Netbook and charger
Voltage adapter/prong adapter/travel surge protector with usb chargers
Portable harddrive and flashdrive
Camera, 2 camera lenses, cord to connect to computer, GPS tagger (not necessary but I want it so I can pinpoint exactly where in the middle-of-nowhere Iceland I was), SD cards (3 just in case) and card reader (just in case cord fails)
Batteries, battery charger (since I have the usb chargers in my surge protector I can now bring my USB battery charger and just leave it plugged in. Very nice since it's 1/10th the size of my other one).
iPhone and possibly my MP3 player just to extend battery life in the middle of nowhere...these will hold movies, music, e-books, and can act as more file storage if necessary

Then on top of that and my clothes, I will need my sleep sack, toiletries (getting it down to one small little case thanks to Sephora's free sample size products!), a few tide packets for washing underwear and socks, some vitamin water-ish mixing packs, 2 playpus water bottles, my nalgene, and a bunch of energy bars. Then my supplements and misc. meds. Even though I don't take many normally, a lot of stuff is apparently illegal in Iceland without a drs note so I'd rather be prepared and have stuff for colds/flu, sinus, stomach stuff, headaches, etc. As much as it will annoy my dr, I'll go without my fish oil, chromium, Vit. D, magnesium, and most definitely this damn glucomannan for the 3 weeks. The immune booster I'll take with me. I just need to figure out how to pack it so I don't get stopped at customs...I refuse to bring all of the original bottles with me.

Passport, credit cards, some cash

And of course my stuffed manatee because i don't want to die in a plane crash. And yes, I realize I'm 30 yrs old and rationally I know that it does not actually prevent plane crashes, but why take the chance? It's kept me safe for 26 yrs of a whole lot of traveling.
