How can someone be so obsessed over someone's features? We all look the same yet so different. It's a normal thing and yet, it's not. How can a small thing like the shape of someone's eyes make someone else fall so much more in love with them?
Ohno couldn't sleep, but that didn't bother him at all. As tired as he was, he couldn't keep his eyes off of Nino's sleeping form for too long. The soft, artificial light hit the younger man's face to enhance his beauty and create the most beautiful shadows for exceptional detail.
The older man's right hand encased a sharpened pencil, which he used to delicately scratch against the drawing pad that was on his lap. He was sitting right across from Nino's sleeping form on the bed and he took the time to precisely etch in the details that he could see. He hoped that the light from the nightstand lamp wouldn't wake up the sleeping man for he knew that he was prone to waking up to things like that, especially since he was a light sleeper.
Ohno had perfected his craft over the years, for when he drew the lines, you could barely hear the sound of the pencil against the coarse paper. Every time Ohno looked over at Nino to study his features, he couldn't help but to take a few moments to stare. His eyes would wander over every curve and when Ohno's eyes stopped onto where Nino's torso was, he couldn't help but smile at the light rhythm of his breathing.
How could something so simple as breathing make him smile so warmly?
Ohno continued sketching, taking in the way Nino's almond eyes were shaped so perfectly, the way his nose was rounded just so, the curves of his mouth protruded ever so slightly that even in sleep, he pouted like the brat he was. Ohno had to stop and study the features himself, just because he couldn't stop himself from doing so. In the many years he knew Nino, he was always finding some small detail to make him love the younger man even more. His heart would skip a beat every time he felt this way.
When the morning light peaked into the window. Ohno was relieved that he had finished the drawing just in time. He was absolutely proud of it and he knew it would be the perfect gift for his lover. He slowly ripped the paper from the pad so as to not make too much noise and placed the artwork on the seat of the chair he had been in. When he turned to walk away, he was taken by surprise when a hand grabbed his own. He turned around to see Nino had grabbed him, though only one of his eyes was opened.
"Did I wake you?" Ohno asked, still staring at his one open eye, finding it irresistibly adorable to look away from.
"Yeah, your big butt was in my face when I woke up," Nino cracked, the tone of his voice groggy. Ohno chuckled softly before he was lightly pulled down onto the bed by Nino. The younger man reached out to grab the paper off of the chair and looked at it. He took a little more time to adjust his eyes to see it better and couldn't believe how beautifully and perfectly he had been drawn.
"Did you do this last night?" Nino asked, surprised by the artwork. Ohno nodded. "This is... really good."
Ohno didn't say anything as he gazed at Nino once more; he couldn't help but stare at the younger man, for he felt if he did, the warm and comfortable feeling would go away. Nino replaced the drawing on the chair before his shifted underneath the covers to leave some room for Ohno to lay next to him. The leader saw this and positioned himself next to Nino, placing his head on the pillow; he knew doing that might make him fall asleep but he didn't care. Nino smiled at him.
"Thank you," Nino said, really meaning the words. As much as Nino had seen Ohno's artwork, this one was different. Nino could tell that a lot of love and time had been put into it the entire night. He wished Ohno had slept, but he was grateful for what Ohno had done. And Nino knew a thank you wouldn't even suffice for it, but he said it anyway. Nino used his free hand and stroked Ohno's cheek, loving the feel of the soft skin. Ohno smiled and closed his eyes, loving the feel of Nino's fingers against his face. This feeling soothed him and his heart skipped another beat.
After a moment, Nino could hear a soft snore come from the other man and he knew he had fallen asleep. Nino's trick had worked, for he knew that sleep would overcome the older man and he was glad. He couldn't help but to continue to stroke the other man's face though, finding himself tracing his eyebrows and his lips with his fingers. Everything about Ohno was fascinating to him and he knew the other man felt the same way. Nino knew that their love was so strong that they didn't even have to say or do anything to show it, but he knew Ohno couldn't help himself.
Nino gave Ohno a soft kiss on the lips before he quietly got out of bed. The younger man planned on letting his lover sleep for as long as he could. Nino loved it when they had their rare days off so that they could spend some quality time with each other.
For it was these kinds of moments that would never be forgotten...
