How was your Halloween? What did you go as? I made myself a grownup version of the Personification Of Coziness found in Martha Stewart and pictured
here and was planning on stopping for lunch at my mom's on the way up to Aimee's party in Salem, but about halfway to Tewksbury my car called it a day. I'd been expecting it for awhile- the Fuck Yeah Toyota Camry pissed oil, struggled to accelerate up hills, shed chunks of its rusted body every time I went anywhere, and I'd scrubbed mold out of the backseat on several occasions. But I had become very attached, and so I had to have a little sniffle as I looked back at it in the side mirror of the tow truck.
I left the car at my mechanic's and my mom rescued me and took me out to lunch and a movie. The next day I did my bakery deliveries on foot, and later on came down with strep. I spent the next two days with a fever and walked to 7-11 in Hurricane Sandy to buy aspirin. I sold the Camry for $270 on craigslist. A few days later my mechanic offered me a 2001 Saturn LS-200 he had for sale, and I bought it. I missed the Camry.
I quit Top Shelf right around that time. I'd been at it for two years and recently I realized that I didn't really enjoy it much anymore. I hadn't invested much and it wasn't terribly profitable, so I was free to walk away whenever I wanted. I still love to bake and maybe someday I'll be a professional again. In the absence of making batches and batches of dirt bomb dough, I'm getting back to sewing! With lots of bad horror movies from the 40's for company, I've made a bag, started a quilt, and am almost done with a skirt.
The weekend after Halloween we had a little birthday celebration for Aimee along with our Guy Fawkes day festivities.
We had our traditional cat tail fight. This year there is even
video!
Crabcakes and pot pies
We burned Mitt Romney. He was wearing a fabulous jumpsuit from Goodwill and his face was printed out from the internet.
