Well..........hmmm, how do I say this without sounding like a know-it-all snotface? Yeah...Susan Bates needles are cheap and generally don't work very well (I mean the cable needles, specifically). I'm not sure there's much you can do at this point. You've done every trick I can think of. My advice? Pick up some Denise interchangeable needles or some Addi Turbos or some other like circular needles. I've heard Knitty has some grand interchangeables and some even grander circulars...

I have at least two pair of Susan Bates circs that are over 25 years old and they still curl.

Resistance is futile. :)

I loathe the curling as well which is why I switched to Bryspun circulars. They are plastic with tapered tips and the cable DOESN'T COIL. =D Granted, they are not for everyone. Personally I don't like the Bryspun straights because they are too bendy.

So. I would rec'd either:

1. Bryspun circs http://www.yarnbarn-ks.com/Bryspun-Flex/products/520/?source=google_knitting-needles

2. Or KnitPicks circs in either Harmony Wood or Nickel Plated. (I love the Harmony). http://www.knitpicks.com/needles/Fixed_Circular_Knitting_Needles__L300302.html

I've never really had that problem with mine. I just worked with it a bit and then it didn't curl.

Same here. Well, mine still curls but it's never bothered me for some reason. Maybe I just got super lucky with the 2 pairs I own? lol
