Hello there!

I'm Clouds, from London in the UK. I've been lurking here since the community was featured. I learned to knit on a rainy July day in 2007, and have taken up the needles again as a sort of stress relief/distraction from my Masters degree. I am still very much a novice, as the pictures under the cut will show. (Thanks to rice_dream_girl for prompting me to post these, as I would probably have been too embarrassed otherwise!)

OK, so they're not all that square. Then again the second one (the white one on the right hand side) is more square than the first one, so that's progress, right?

The blue trapezoid was the first thing I knit, begun in a large gauge whilst under the watchful eye of the friend who was teaching me, and which shrank gradually down to the gauge I'm more likely to knit at normally. (The needles are tiny and I am apparently quite a tight knitter.) It's all garter stitch and I couldn't cast off properly so I just kind of gave up!

The white thing with the tea stains I finished a couple of hours ago. Thanks to knittinghelp.com and this community I learned to purl, so it's done in a ribbing of sorts - I knitted two rows, purled two rows, carried on in the same vein until I forgot how many rows I'd done and knitted four rows, purled four rows for the sake of continuity, and finally got bored and learned how to bind off properly.

I might try and actually make something next, who knows!
