I have been so incredibly busy, first with school stuff like three billion papers and final tests and then I was babysitting and now I've been doing Christmas stuff.
I've been doing a really bad job of keeping up with my flist just like I have been for months now. But I've been using what free time I do have to write things that will probably never see the light of day anyway.
Today when I checked in on my plant babies I saw this:
DDDDDDDDDD:
WHAT HAPPENED TO SAM!?!?!?
My mom said maybe it had something to do with his soul; I was too traumatized to find this funny at all.
:(
My poor Sam. I know I have been busy, but he definitely looked fine at least the day before yesterday.
All of the plants were completely dry. I mean like a desert. I believe I can blame this on the heater. I have poured a ton of water on them and their houses are now all humid, but idk if the leaves on Sam will recover or if I'll have to wait on new growth. I know flytraps are super resilient and they can look dreadful and pitiful, but put them in some water and light and within hours they can look amazingly better. But I don't have any experience with pitcher plants. I think Sam may look a bit better already, but it may be wishful thinking. He's definitely going to live though.
A closeup of the horribly shriveled Sam:
:(((((
Dean is doing okay. He's got lots of pink on him. But his pot is WAY overcrowded and there is actually a brand new baby flytrap in there I just saw today:
I'm going to have to transplant him and probably split him up some eventually. Some of his traps are also growing in all twisted, I believe it is from aphids. The plant website I trust says to use alcohol on them, so I think I'll try that.
These plants my grandma got right at the same time I got my plants. She was totally not taking care of them so she gave them to me at the beginning of November. They didn't look so great:
BUT I am proud to say they are both doing really well. The flytrap is actually producing some traps and the sundew has dew on it's leaves. I think they may have bugs too though. When we bought them they all had bugs :(
The flytrap I got from her. Amazingly, it is actually only one plant so it looks way smaller than Dean:
The sundew:
It is maybe kind of hard to tell in the pics but the sundew does have the sticky dew on the leaves. Earlier today when I discovered how dry they all were it did not have dew, so I guess it bounces back pretty quick too. I was a bit afraid because the oldest leaves never did get dew on them back from when my grandma wasn't keeping them in a humid place, but I guess I got to them quick enough this time.
And I think that is the end of my ramblings on plants. I am not sure how I became such a plant dork.
So Roxas gets really excited about Christmas. She likes to attack the tree and break things and scratch up presents and roll around on wrapping paper and chew on bows and all kinds of nice things. It's drives us all absolutely insane. But here is Roxas helping me wrap a Christmas present:
There's not actually anything in the present though. It was just to put under the tree along with some other fake presents to try to keep Roxas from using the tree skirt instead of her litter box.
For Christmas my mom wanted a bracelet with the photo charms I was making things with so I finally got her to pick out the pics and everything and yesterday I got them all done up. Now they're dry and they actually set up better than any I'd done before, so I was really excited. But somehow like four of them are really discolored and I don't know how this happened, but I guess I'll have to redo them, and now I am sad.
Christmas is in like ten days and I'm mostly done with my mom's Christmas stuff and I got Roxas a present, but other than that I haven't bought anyone anything D: And worse, idk what I'm going to buy people. And I think we're going to the mall this weekend or next week. I guess we like the adventure of last minute shopping or something.
I think that's all. I have a feeling there could be some bad grammar and run-on sentences here, but I should probably go to bed...
