You know you're a geek when...your fairly geeky friend calls you up for advice about comics because she's trying to outgeek someone at work. I am the go-to person when someone needs to be geekier, apparently. (Or nerdier? What is even the difference there?) On the bright side, now I get to force her to read things like Y: The Last Man, DMZ, and Gaiman, of course. Maybe some Ex Machina also.
ANYWAY. On Saturday night I saw Passion Pit and it was awesome; the end. No, actually, um...I'm totally in love with this band. Just
look at them! Boys! Touching each other! Um...yes. I also love that they are unashamedly hipster, with their matching glasses and their skinny jeans and their plaid shirts and v-necks. LOVE, okay? LOVE. I am also head over heels for the lead singer, but hey, who's surprised? He brought tea out onstage for the encore, you guys! I think I maybe melted. Also, they covered Dreams in the encore, and it worked so, so well for them.
Oh, okay, and funny moment: there were all these people trying to crowd surf and most of them were failing epically, and there were these two teenage boys in front of me (maybe a year or two younger than me) who were basically commenting on every crowdsurfer. And this one girl shows up and one of the guys is like, "Well, at least she's hot." And I started laughing and I was like, "Nicely done." And he said, "It's true!" To which I responded, "Nah, she's like a six, at most," and he was SO SURPRISED at first, and then he and his friend just thought that was the best thing ever and were forced to agree with me. It was kind of hilarious.
Basically I love this band, and you should all check them out ASAP. Actually, here, have their
first album.
I have a long list of things to do and I have tonnes of free time, but oddly enough, nothing ever gets done. How does that even work? I watched an excellent movie called The Fall last night, which I recommend to pretty much everyone ever. It's amazing. It's visually stunning and Lee Pace is in it and is appropriately fantastic. Here, check out
the trailer.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love trailers? A lot. I watch them in my spare time. And then I rewatch them again when I'm bored. And then I show them to people. And when I rent a DVD, even if I've seen the trailer for the film a million times, I rewatch the trailer before I watch the film. Seriously, I'm kind of weird.
I am also currently watching a film called Shortbus that I love so far. It's kind of amazingly well done and totally fascinating.
And how are all of you? Anyone have a particularly exciting weekend?
