Shannon Van Gorden has been dancing for the past 21 years. She began at Janet’s Dance Centre in Old Bridge, NJ under the direction of Janet Golub. There she was selected for the competition team without audition and to be an assistant teacher. Shannon has won numerous dance titles with various dance competitions. The highlight of these competitions was in 2000 when Shannon won first place in New Jersey’s Show Stopper’s competition for her swing jazz rendition of Jump, Jive, n’ Wail. She has performed at halftime at Giant’s Stadium with the American Lung Association to assist in Asthma Awareness. In addition to dance, Shannon has also acted and sang in various plays including the New Jersey State Premiere of The Phantom of the County Opera. For the past five years, Shannon has been teaching dance professionally to ages two to adult. Currently, she is teaching at DanzForce Extreme in Orlando, FL. Shannon has coached successful dance competitions teams at Festival of Dance in Orlando, FL and at New Dimensions High School in Kissimmee, FL. In addition to dance, Shannon is a teacher with Orange County Schools. She graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English and Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Dance Therapy. Shannon has kept dance in her heart since she can remember, even when she was a just an infant bopping to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
