night clubs. my honest opinion.
i wrote the following for a call for writers to write sarcastic articles about night clubs in orlando. i think it's kinda funny. someone told me it wasn't as sarcastic as they would have liked. well, i tried.
Night clubs have always been littered with an interesting mix of people socializing with each other. Some trying to just relieve the stress from a busy work week, other trying to have causal sex, and others, well who knows. Saturday nights, 80s night at Antigua in Downtown Orlando brings a great array of different people. Some are there to just unwind and some are there to relive their past. The break dancers are always there in the back circling and hovering around each other, each one trying to out dance the other. With the wanna be breakers watching from the sidelines. 80s night also brings out the older generation, a different mix than the normal twentysomething club goers. More covered with clothing, dancing for themselves to music from their twentysomething era.
The smell of hormones is more recognizable on Thursday's college night than on Saturdays. College Students from all over Orlando get in free with drink specials all night. Scantily clad male and female dancers overlook the crowd with choreographed moves. Horny club goers drool and reach for these dancers as a raving fan would reach for a celebrity of their choosing. The club gets packed around 12:45 AM. At it's fullest you have many types of people crowding the dance floor and the bathroom. The break dancers are still in the back of the club. VIP is overflowing with guests who are tripping over their own bottles of alcohol. The random people who cannot dance are looked at from afar with snickers. Antigua Security is present at every corner of the club complete with flash lights and muscles. The party doesn't stop until Antigua Security pushes club goers out into the streets of Orlando at 2:45 AM.
