It had been a long, exciting, night for everyone. The whole camp had waited up for Hershel to bring news of Charli and her baby. Waiting, just in case something happened and their help was needed. But everything had gone well and everyone had turned in for a good nights sleep. Even Robin was curled up on the couch, sleeping against Daryl.

Seb was aware that it was late and that mother and baby needed their rest too. But he knew that Charli didn't have any family left to visit, to give encouraging words and welcome the baby to the world. In the morning, everyone would be lining up to see, but Seb knew that right now could feel so scary and lonely for such a young mother.

He put his head quietly around the door, a sheepish smile on his face.

The baby was quiet, sleeping soundly in the bend of Charli's arm, and the young mum was fighting to stay awake, not ready yet to stop looking at the little boy. He already had dark hair, that curled in soft wisps against his head, and the grip he had on Charli's finger was strong. She'd been left relatively alone for the last hour, only occasionally getting a visit from Patricia or Carol to check in on her.

When the door opened, she glanced up, offering a sleepy smile to Seb. "Hi."

ooc: I was ridiculously giddy just now to see Seb :D

"Hey..." Seb's voice was soft and gentle, not wanting to disturb the mother or child.

He lingered in the doorway, his hand clutching the doorhandle. "I was was wondering if you wanted any visitors? I can go if you want to be alone..."

"It's fine, Seb. Come meet him." She shifts slightly so that she's sitting up more, cradling her son to her chest. She wouldn't say it loud, but she was kind of scared to be alone, at a complete loss whenever he so much as grizzled and the company was more than welcomed.

"I'm surprised I haven't had more visitors, actually."

He'd bumped heads with Rick again, most camp turning against him before he knew it. Again. All he could think as he drove back to the farm was of those eyes, the judgement, the disappointment on Charli's as he stormed off.

By the time he made it back to the property, no one was around camp. It scared him at first, but then he noticed how the house seemed completely illuminated from the inside and alarms went crazy inside his head. He knew right away. Hell, he'd been thinking about when Charli would be due to, barely hours ago. Could it be a coincidence? Was his child being born just as he thought about it?

He rushed into the house, the little dirt on him making him feel filthy as Patricia led him to the main bedroom.

There they were. Beautiful. Surrounded by a light of their own, in this shitty, new dark world.

It had been scary from the moment it begun. There was pain, blood and Shane wasn't there. He was meant to be there, and it had felt wrong without him. But she'd had help, Robin with her to hold her hand while she went through what was possibly the worst pain she'd ever experienced.

She was close to sleep when she heard the footsteps. Two sets. The lighter of the two she had a feeling was Patricia, once again coming to check on her. Fighting back the hope that blossomed, Charli sat up, trying not to jostle the infant too much and ignoring the ache moving caused.

She held her breath, waiting until the door opened.

"Charli." Was all he could say, battling to pick his words as a bright smile graced his face now. Shane rubed his mouth, as if warming it up could help it work. There was the young girl he'd grown to love, holding his child in arms.

His tiny, barely a little person, baby.

His feet were not s doubtful as his words, and in a blink he was by her side, towering over them both. He only caught a glance of that wrinkly, red face, but it was enough to make his heart hammer his ribcage.

"Sorry I wasn't here." He genuinelly apologised, his hand falling on Charli's shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Shane..." Her breath leaves her in a gush and a smile breaks out across her ace as tears well up in her eyes; all the things happening in the same moment. Once he's by the bed. she reaches a hand out to him, the one not supporting their boy. "We have a son. He's beautiful, Shane."

As if sensing his father's presence, the baby begins to squirm, soft almost-cries filling the quiet of the room, and for the first time since it all happened, the fear didn't fill her like it had. She let's out a watery laugh at his apology. "You should be. Shoulda been your hand I almost broke." But the smile doesn't leave her face.
