"Then we'll be doing him a favor!" the Doctor said, happy once again. "If things get too wrong, I have some nano-genes left and they will help to rewrite him back to psuedo normal!" Oh, the Doctor was absolutely thrilled.

"Before we steal him again, we should finish collecting everything. I don't want to have to go back our for groceries in the middle of making a cake!"

The Doctor flipped another page, his stomach actually growling before he pouted.

"I miss his pancakes. We need to be certain before we test on him. There's only one Not-Drippy."

The Master frowned, his eyes fixated on the book as he tried to block out all the praise to Not-Drippy, he did like him very much but he didn't want to be fond of monkeys any more. It made him weak and pathetic, and besides that Ianto was too attached to the freak to be any fun any more.

"I can live without them. Pancakes are pancakes. Even I can make them."

Well he could but he often set fire to the kitchen, blew something up or ate all the pancakes as he made them, leaving none for the Doctor.

"Where to next?"

"Artaris," the Doctor said, frowning lightly. "I know...there's an object called the Relic. I remember it vaguely," he murmured. There was something about the use of it that he couldn't remember though--

"Oh! But you can't sleep. That's a bit annoying if I recall." Time Lords slept for an hour a night, at most, though the Doctor had taken to really enjoying the dreamworld with his Master.

Still, there was something nagging at him. Something important. Why couldn't he remember?

"I rather like sleep, lets try to keep it that way," the Master pointed out, being awake every hour might get a bit dull, if he ever got bored then he'd curl up under the table or his desk and secretly take a nap.

The Master smirked suddenly and leaned forward, it was obvious from the look on his face that he had a plan. It was the same look he got when he'd made the singularity bomb. "If we can't work this out properly, I have a plan B you might like."

Plan B's were never good but it was worth an ask. "Remembering the immortality gate? I'm just saying... I know where we can find one, how to work one and how to get it to immortalise us. The only side effect will be the Master Race and who didn't love them!"

The Doctor immediately grabbed hold of the Master's lips and pinched them closed. "No," he said, roughly, as one might talk to a bad dog who had just pulled the trash out of the rubbish bin. "No immortality gate. No TARDIS connection for a paradox machine. No Master Race. One Master is all I want and there are already far too many Masters around!"

Plan B, the Doctor decided, was now labeled "Plan never to do no matter what."

He gently released the Master's lips, mindful of a potential bite.

The Masters eyes widened as his lips were held shut, nodding along slowly as he was lectured again his Master race idea... he rather liked it. Perhaps he could find a way to convince the Doctor in later life to give it a shot again. Until then, he settled for glaring unhappily at the Doctor.

When he let go, the Master did make a biting motion to scare him from trying to do such a thing again.

"You're no fun sometime," the Master complained, sulking childishly and turning his head from the Doctor.

It took quite a lot out of the Doctor to finally get the Master to speak with him again, which was just as well. Trying to get the TARDIS to take them to Artaris was a stretch as well. Ever since the Master told her that was not much less fun than Red for giving into the Doctor, she'd taken that as a hint to start playing games.

Finally bribing her with a souvenier, she threw them against the wall in her rush to comply to the Doctor's request.

"There! Off we go!" the Doctor said, stepping out onto the lush green grass. It was a pretty planet.

The Master got over his sulk very swiftly when the golden TARDIS agreed to play with them. He was starting to like this thing more and more. At least it was willing to take part and it didn't keep dropping him into baths all the time. That was the one reason why he'd disliked the Doctor original TARDIS.

Hurrying along after the Doctor, he looked around the grassy planes before grinning brightly. "Oooh, its rather lovely," he mused aloud before wandering off ahead.

"We're going down this way, aren't we?"

"Hmmm, mm!" the Doctor with a bright grin, tromping down the hill after the Master. They were actually right in step, their merged minds causing them to march in time with each other, to march in time with the beating of their hearts and the pulse of the rhythm behind the Doctor's eyes.

They were headed into town first, a Medieval walled city at the foot of a great gray castle. The Doctor needed to check the date, just to be certain, though Goldie was absolutely brilliant when it came to depositing them where they needed to go.

As expected, they managed to arrive well before Grayvorn managed to get himself merged with the Relic. It was fair game. They just needed to figure out where it was now. That part of the Doctor's mind was...spotty.

The Master didn't notice their rhythm but after so long, he never did anymore. Things just fell into place these days and he never stopped to look, he was more amused by the settings, looking around at the great castle. Oooh, how he'd love one of those for himself. He could have a proper throne and everything. Perhaps he and the Doctor could build one on Earth... or make some monkeys build it for them.

"Right the relic should be around somewhere... Can you remember where?"

The Master started to rack his brains, trying to remember what he knew of it all. He'd only heard it from the Doctor and various stories he'd been told. "Wasn't it near a convent or something?"

"Convent!" The Doctor was quite happy to share the glory of discovery with the Master. He had no real desire to rule over everything, but he did want respect. He was sure he had the Master's for the most part so with that taken care of, all he needed was everyone else's. Soon.

The Doctor stood beside the Master, arms crossed over his chest as he ignored the odd looks that they were getting from the people that moved around them. He didn't care one damned bit what they thought of him, or that he and the Master were standing in the middle of the main thorough faire!

They had more of a right to be here than anyone!

"Look for a graveyard--" the Doctor started to say before he was interupted.

"Oh, no, you mustn't!" an old woman said, stopping them and looking frightened. "The dead...the dead walk at the graveyard!"

He didn't move from his spot as he waited by the doctor, trying to judge where he was meant to go. Where would a graveyard be? He expecting some dark and creepy corner of this place.

He frown and turned his head to the odd old women. "The dead are walking? Are you crazy, speaking metaphorically or are there zombies?" he quizzed rather frankly, unable to hide his own excitement at the prospect of the walking dead. He was practically bouncing on the spot.

The old women stared at them both like they were devils before backing away from them. "The dead walk, I tell the truth."

Turning his head to the Doctor, the Master grinned brightly and shoved his hands into his pocket.

"Zombies!"

"Don't be so hasty, Master," the Doctor said, head tilted to the side. "Remember what happened the last time we met Zombies!" The back of the Master's shoe and his hoodie had suffered the consequences really, thanks in part to the overrun museum's 'safety' features.

Memories of their previous attempt at dealing with Zombies left the Doctor with a bittersweet smile on his face. Theta had been with them then. It was the day after Easter and--

The Doctor immediately took the Master's hand and leaned down to look into the wizened woman's face.

"All right, where are the walking dead? We've come to solve your problem."

Through the link, he caught the Doctors thought and his smile faltered. Theta... he missed him really, all the fun they'd had at Easter when he'd been told about that zombie called Jesus and shared chocolate. It hurt to think of and he unintentionally mimicked the Doctor, taking his hand also.

"They're down past the fields, no one goes there now," the old women told them, giving both of them a wary look as if she doubted their intentions.

The Master didn't stop to assure her, he just tugged the Doctor along with him, happy to go find some zombies and have some fun.

"This time, they won't ruin my hoodie!"

The Doctor's smile returned, the thoughts of Theta dissolving back into his skull like a pleasant, but painful dream. Loss happened, and one day he would get use to it. One day.

Palm to palm, the Doctor followed the Master's cue and they headed through cobblestone streets with close, narrow stone facaded buildings. They stopped for something to eat -- and a bit of terrorizing to some old ladies -- before they reached the city's edge.

"You'd be mad. We're not opening the barricade!" a red and blue dressed guard told the two Time Lords.

The Doctor frowned. "Then we'll go through it!"

The Master turned his head to the Doctor and grinned before leaping over the barricades without a second word. The guards reached out and grasped the back of the Masters hoodie, yanking him back and almost choking the time lord in the process.

"Its no safe sir, you need to stay back!"

The Master wriggled and squirmed free, kicking one of the guards in the shin before taking odd down the road.

"Come on Doctor!"
